  1. Im with Argos, will have to look at the small print, to see if i am covered, had the dog inoculated, but no booster.
  2. I find the decent mixers to expensive, I take the meat off with a boning knife, its bagged, and frozen, along with the carcass, Which is fed to the Ferts. bit of a hassle, realy, but worth it.
  3. have been caught out with rain, made no difference to bolting, or sticking, Have to admit, ive always been a fair weather Ferreter. Was never a pesty, so didn't need to go out. never seen any pleasure in it, or ferreting when blowing a hooley. HA Ha, thats whats best about being retired, plenty time. to go ferreting.
  4. LC, Recently gave me a visit, I wish i had his skills, he looks at something, then thinks, how can I better this, and he does. He showed me the purse net on the end pole, really does tighten it up. And you are not carrying anything extra, everyone takes purse nets. A really simple idea, that works, so simple, I thought, why didn't i think of that.
  5. Im with Argos, but I will have to look at the small print. I dont believe in boosters, but have been told, that some insurances, if you dont keep all inoculations up to date, you are therefore not covered if you claim.
  6. Netrigger kindly sent me a couple of Braided nylon purse Nets to try out. Bill says they are excellent for thick cover, good for hedges and woodland, pick up little crap due to the twines make up. tried them on Saturday, on a strip where branches had been cut, so it was rough, cleaned the burys as much as i could. Nets worked well, and like most of Bills nets, rabbits head through the net, so was not going anywhere.
  7. Magwitch, you owe me money for copyright
  8. I do a few trees, what you need is about four poke nets. they are bigger than your normal net, with two pegs, when the rabbits hit these nets, they aint going anywhere. they reckon they originated in Scotland, where they were called double peggers. I also use cocktail sticks, just half them and put them in the cracks of the bark. i also carry four plastic clothes pegs, if you can attach them, they can be useful. You can use your purse nets for the smaller holes. I dont know what your ground is like, but you can also use stop nets, round the tree base, or even half way round. as been sai
  9. Sorry about line below words, does anyone no how to get it off, Ross I dont think you are for real, but anyway, i have had Ferts for 40 years, and spent my time usually running away from Keepers. But I used to ferret regular with two keepers, and to tell you the truth, although they could catch rabbits, i would not say they were great shakes at the game. took them out at night with the webs, and they hadnt a clue, Years ago I stupidly answered an advert in the local paper, keeper has ferrets for sale, They were the most biting vicious ferets, i have seen. I think he just went out with th
  10. I dont think colour comes in to it, to me the only difference working is, one is white the other brown. regarding them sleeping down the bury, if my ferts were slow to come out, they were either working a rabbit, or stuck in a blind end. not having a kip.
  11. It takes a clever dog to banter a field, whilst you wait at the net, if your dog will not do i would not take it night long netting. had some usefull dogs in the past, but have to admit none could banter the field at night. Best of luck.
  12. watch those soles they are crap, had mine a Month, was going down a grass banking, where the feet just went from me. I grabbed a fence to stop my fall, wire dug into my finger, ended up at A&E four stiches. Contacted muck boots to tell them what happened, and their soles. but they never had the deceny to get back to me. Would not buy them again.
  13. I went on a wee mooch today for a couple of hours, bolted five, if i had taken stop nets i could have had 8, so there are still pockets of rabbits about.
  14. Paid, If you look back on this forum Lifelong Cumbrian has put up posts with photos and measurements. all you need to do is print them out, and take them to a metal work shop, and ask if they will make you one.
  15. Apart from Coursing meetings run by the Scottish coursing club, the only Greyhound I seen in the field was owned by a traveller, we saw it run down Border Lads way, and saw it catch twice, did not see if it could jump, it didn't need to. Years ago I was part of a Greyhound syndicate, one of the members, was always taking his Track Greyhound after Hares, that one other member said he should have bought a Lurcher, although I did not accompany him on these trips, his dog never seem to have any injuries, in fact im sure it received more injuries running in the local Flapping track.
  16. Hi Littlefish, Maybe I could have wordrd it better, I was just surprised how clever Whippets are, being a sight hound. I know on a hunting site, obedience classes would be laughed at. But the course was cheap, was good for the dog. And have to admit, much to my surprise, I enjoyed it.
  17. Nope 40 years of ferreting a lot on pheasant estates, but never seen one in a bury, the only things I have bolted are one Stoat and Mice.
  18. My post was just a bit of fun Skygod. Aye ye canny beat a wee bit of Bedlington in the mix.
  19. Very nice, Oh well no one has said it, so here goes. WHATS THE BREADING.
  20. Could not vote for her size, 18 inches, She worked till 9. Caught large amount of Rabbits and Pheasant with this bitch.so there are decent rabbit dogs under 20.
  21. There are a lot of genuine Lads on this site making quality nets.
  22. my Wife wanted to take the whippet, I wasn't keen, didn't see the point. Told her he would be up against Collies labs ect, and not to expect too much being a sighthound, Anyway i got dragged along, and it was okay, taught recoll, sit and stay, etc etc. What surprised me was how well the Whippet did, he was up there with the top three, it was not expensive, and did the dog no harm.
