  1. Stick them up on the for sale forum, under offers, and see what you get offered.
  2. Probally a wind up, next it will be, has anyone got a ferret and hutch, nets and finder. If your that skint, i suggest you save up for a Catapult. They are not expensive, you dont need to feed them, or take them to the Vet, And if not working, you will have all the time in the world to practice.
  3. Ive had them like that, have boiled them up for the Dog, and the ferrets got the front of the rabbit raw, with no ill effects to either. I do eat the odd rabbit in a curry, but have never been brave enough to try one like that myself. but like i say rabbits with the yellow in them never killed the Dug or the ferts.
  4. I also dont know what they are worth, maybe not a lot, but if you are going to bin them, perhaps Pipa on here, who fixes them could use them. Maybe you could pm him?
  5. Aye its good to get oot on a crisp dry day, but on these days, ive had a few where the Rabbits were reluctant to bolt, even when being quiet, in that weather, they must here more? maybe.
  6. Im the same, it has rained here for four days, just going to put a coat on the Whippet, and go for a walk, have all the waterproofs, but its still not enjoyable. Im okay for bunnies, my freezer in the shed is not huge, but its filled.
  7. I know, not everyone uses a Dog, but i would not go out without one, although i enjoy all aspects of ferreting, i just like to see a dog work, and as solo ferreter, they are good company. years ago i was offered to Ferret on a estate, but the keeper said no Dogs, and i turned him down. I would really get a marking dog, whatever you fancy Lurcher, terrier, spaniel or collie. The Whippet X Bedlington I had was a terrific marker, as i have said on other posts, no scratching, or digging at bury entrances, just one tilt of her head, and if occupied, she would lie quietly behind the bury. If i
  8. looks well made, but looks more like a car boot box, looks a bit heavy, but maybe its just the photograph. I am always trying to lighten my load, being a solo ferreter. Was watching a Dvd yesterday that showed some Northumberland Lads ferreting with long nets and purse nets. They had a Landrover and trailer, all equipment taken near the sets, plus flasks of tea and sandwiches. Thats the way, im getting more like a pack horse, maybe thats a good idea, with lads using fishing trolly's. maybe i should get a Highland Pony.
  9. A Stoat, will sleep in a stone wall, a hollow tree, or an old Rabbit bury. With no shavings or straw or fleece blankets, in hard Weather. and they are okay. Regarding using fleeces, and washing them in a machine, I couldn't be bothered, I use shavings, and in cold weather straw. I can get a big bag. free from Farmers, only takes a min to change.
  10. Looks like he is going to be Ferreter, I used to take my Lad out Ferreting, snaring and night longnetting, but he hated it. Ended up a Golfer.
  11. 18 inch, best rabbiting dog and feather I have ever owned, she was well known, as a few seen her work, and were always impressed. You very rarely returned empty handed with this Bitch. Always thought she looked liked a cross between a brush and a broom. Only entered her once in a working show in her class she came last.
  12. Genuine first cross Whippet X Bedlington, old Photo.
  13. Having had both, if you really want a Bedlington then go for it, theres Lads on the Working Bedlington Forum with good Dogs, but if Rabbits, or Rats is your game, then I would consider a Bedlington X Whippet, a good un should work heavy cover will catch Rabbits on the run. and although not the ultimate lamping Dog, you can still take rabbits on the lamp.
  14. Thanks lads for all your kind comments, i will have to a good think before posting in future, dont worry i take it all as good fun. On a serious note, I was out for a walk years ago and i noticed rabbits bolting from burys in a banking, and out popped this Polecat jill, that is the one I dug out, she was a cracken worker, one of the best i ever had. She was well looked after by me, caught me a lot of rabbits, and died with me of old age.
  15. you could be up for the golden spoon award in the hunting lifes new years honours list joe .... Swap, :boogy: one well used Bulldog Spade, Will accept any decent unused desert Spoon.

  18. James, It was in a stop end with the dead rabbit jammed in front of her, she would have eaten through the Rabbit, but decided to dig her out. She was down very deep, and the digging was hard, and i was knackered, thats why it took me two days.
  19. A two day dig in 87 on hard stoney ground
  20. This is Paddy my wee Hob, if they dont bolt from this Boy, there is no return, you have to dig quick.
  21. 8shot, can you get the train from Devon to Scotland and show me how to work it?
