  3. Most stalking estates in Scotland anyway, provide a big rifle for the job.
  4. go stalking and shoot one, help the stalking industry out.
  5. I have no experience catching up ducks but, I have found with live trapping the bigger the trap the less wary the pray is of it. could you make the trap larger? just an idea.
  6. I'm a keeper on an estate in Aberdeenshire, their is a tributary of the Dee that runs through it which I have permission to fish. I have only really caught very small brownies but I have seen a good few sea trout and salmon running it. Last year I had a big salmon jumping over my line. But no bites
  7. You will catch predatory trout all year mate, but the wild brownies do become more fry hungry towards the end of summer. With a muddler minnow you can use floating, sinking or anything in between lines. Can fish it upstream, downstream, up and across or any other way you want. Can fish it alone, or if fishing faster water with a bit of depth you can either tie a weighted nymph or sulimilar under it or use a sinking line to get it deeper. Like I said its almost impossible to fish t wrong. I am in no way an hour expert but if you need any advice or questions answered then please don't hesitate t
  8. I am fairly new to fly fishing and fishing in general. With your comment about it being hard to fish a muddler wrong I went out and bought a few. One large and a few mini minos. When is the fry hatch? And also an off topic question for anyone. Do people fish for trout this time of year? Is not why not? I live in Aberdeenshire and see the Dee is now open.
  9. alright smart arse, it does make a if difference, if its stood out on frozen hill side for an hour or so in the snow while your digging. I dont know what its like in soft Englandshire, but up in Scotland it get f***ing harsh.
  10. I have landed on my feet in my current job, my headkeeper is top notch and will fight for everything me need whether its in the house or equipment. He doesn't think its right to expect someone to graft their tits off all day maybe in the pissing rain to come home to a cold damp house. he says he doesn't live in shit so why should he expect his lads too? I think depending on the perks, a beatkeeper starting his first beatkeeping job should start on about 12,000 a year and for it to go up every other year depending on how well their doing their job. if you go to a new job the number of year
  11. the days of beat/under keepers being treated like shit and living in a damp shit holes, should be behind us by now. I've worked for some arsehole headkeepers who never have a good word for you no matter how hard you work. one of them when i first stared helping out for nothing in the summer holidays. they should be embarrassed they cant keep a under keeper for more than a season, a good headkeeper is fair and looks out for his lads. everyone deserves a second chance, even if your not a super hardcore keeper like foxdropper here.
  12. so wheres the cheapest place to buy Alum?

  15. Black & White German Wire-haired pointer Bitch for sale in South east Aberdeenshire. She is just under one year old with no papers (which doesn't bother me, but may bother others) I have had her out at the grouse 2 or 3 times, she sits and stays, is quiet in the kennel, jumps fences, comes back to the whistle, hunts and retrieves. she has pointed a few grouse and has been fairly steady. she has also picked up and brought back a few grouse and partridge. still got a long way to got, but young enough to make someone a good dog. My reason for selling her is that I'm not bonding with her an
  16. Hello, My GWP pup has developed a very annoying habit of really high pitched screeching when it gets excided, mostly when I am walking all my dogs and they are running about she runs after them screaming her head off. she doesn't do it when she is out on her own and is kennelled with another adult dog and is pretty quiet in the kennel. I've tried telling her off with a gruff "that'll do" but it doesn't help. if she only does it as a pup that is fine, but I am worry it will carry on with this ear splitting screeching into adulthood. Has anyone had this problem? or have any suggestions as
