Hello, I have a 4 and a half month old gwp bitch, I've just started doing a bit of retreving and getting it used to walking on a lead. I know she is still young but I am having a problem with her coming back to me with the puppy dummy. She will Go out and pick it up and just run off and sit and chew it. Iv tryed walking away and she does follow be is very unwilling to bring it anywhere near me. Any tips on this would be greatly apreciated , also what are your thoughts about lead work at this age? Should I just leave the lead work for now or should I just get her used to walking

I have a GWP x lab and she is my best dog. great nose, hunts, points, retrieves , endless energy and kills vermin. as a keeper she is everything i need. Im not interested in a dog to show off sending it back 600 yards or anything stupid. I just need a dog that will work. its got the instincts of a pointer with out the skittishness and biddable like a lab.

cheers for the help

I have just moved to a new job and have had to give up my lurchers as i don't have the space for them. I sold my pup before I moved but I still have a 2 and a half year old, second generation German wire haired pointer x Greyhound bitch, she has a ruff chocolate colored coat. she works in the lamp and with ferrets, she jumps and sits on the back of a quad. clean in the kennel and gets along fine with other dogs. she is currently being boarded at a friends house, who lives near peebles in the Scottish borders. I am looking for £100 for her (mostly to avoid, time wasters and dog peddlers) any

Hello, I have has always been interested in fishing but growing up never had any friends or family who fished so I never had a chance to try it. I am a grouse keep now and have just moved up to a highland estate which is mostly grouse but it has a bit of red deer too. There is no least fishing but there are a few smallish rocky stream what have trout in them. I was thinking about having a go fishing the trout, but don't really know what I need. A check list of the bare minimum i would need, would be useful and a good book to read up how to go about it. Thanks alot, Tom

For Sale 7 Month Wheaton/saluki/gray Dog
Bobba_fett replied to Bobba_fett's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
sire was about 28" never saw the dam. but with it being 3/4 wheaton I would imagine it wasn't the tallest. -
I am selling my lurcher pup as I am moving jobs and cant keep him. I am gutted as I have put a far bit of time into him and he is really showing the makings of a good dog. The sire was a saluki/gray and the dam was a 3/4 wheaton 1/4 gray both good workers from all accounts. he hasn't seen a great deal, chased a dozen rabbits caching 2 and killed a big adult rat but that is all. He is seven months and stands about 21" at the moment. im looking for £200, which would make my money back on him. I am in south/middle Scotland. PM me if you are interested.

It`s the old saying not what you know but who you know and its not rocket sceince is it to do vermin control flip the grit trays and keep beaters in line on shoot days. And he was on a shoot this year that got 5000 birds so he knows a bit atb Jamie I guess you dont have any grouse exp either then. it may not sound like rocket science to you, grouse keeping isnt chicken farming. in the spring we're flat out 20 hour working days. you cant just buy in more grouse if they get eaten, every fox, every stoat, every weasel has to be accounted for. it takes determination and most people couldn't

and its a beat keepers job?

I think you'll get a shock at burn foot. have you got much grouse experience?
