  1. How do all. I have a lovely cashmere/wool mix throw over jacket available. I had it tailor made a few years ago for me and was a size large. Cost over £100 at the time so not cheap rubbish. Very soft and warm top. Unfortuately my partner put it in the wash and it has shrunk some what . Rather than just bin it I was wondering if someone with a young lad would llike it. We estimate it will now fit someone around 10/11. It has now become a bit denser than it was originally due to the wool shrinking and compacting. I would imagine it will be a very warm top. Its in very good condition.
  2. Spraying with water may deter a dog from making a noise but possibly not advisable when temperatures are dropping below freezing at the mo. whippets don't carry much fat and with their coat may get chilled of left wet.
  3. all are quality pieces but the oak burr is amazing.
  4. Your birds are too fusy - mine have eaten them in the past. They are not dangerous to feed to your bird but it seems that like rats some birds like em and some dont.
  5. Just received these from Matt today. Can't tell you how happy I am with them. Lovely little blades that fit into the hand so well. As always incredibly sharp. You would not believe how incredibly affordable they were. Highly recommend you contact Matt and order one (or several)!!!! Regards, ian
  6. I will have the locator and collar please. If you know how much the postage is then send me a total via pm and also how you would like payment. regards, Ian
  7. Seems to be a common fault then as mine does as well. Its a shame as they are spot on where to dig and you dont get the interferrence that you used to with the mark 1 boxes. You do get used to it but it is a pain.
  8. I wouldnt want to take them out and get them dirty. They look amazing.
  9. Getting the first one is always the hardest. Others will follow quickly. regards Ian
  10. Hello there. When she comes back from her walk how much does she drink? She then eats which will possibly make her thirsty again and drink more. By 8 that water will not be through her but possibly she will have too much to hold till 2. Yes she should be able to hold but in the kennel she was able to go when she wanted so hasn't realised she needs to hold on. Can you not feed her when you return at 2 or even at night. If fed at night I would hope that she will eat, drink and then settle down. If she wakes and needs to go before you get there then hopefully she will cry or scratch at the
  11. When these youngsters are ready for their new homes it could be end of May. They can be trained up and got fit but then what will the new owners do with them. Really difficult to hunt with a new bird at that time of year. Too hot, too much cover and quarry species are still breeding so questionable ethically. Bird sits there and all the attention is on the new owner providing food rather than teaching it to look outwards. Increase's chance of bird screaming and being more difficult to enter later on. Can't say I would want one at that time.
  12. yes they do release them if they want to move onto another bird. By keeping the bird for the first season they have kept it alive through the period of highest mortality. It has learnt the hunting skills it requires so if released in a suitable area should be fine. Thing I have never understood about their system is their choice of birds - redtail or american kestrel. Redtail is a great choice but a kestrel!!
  13. an excellent idea but lots can talk about their skills but not back them up in practice. How do we sort out the genuine falconers?
  14. Couldn't agree more. The few I have spoken to already have had a grilling! This chap now will hopefully get a home for like at the end of this. His current owner is really upset bit circumstances change for us all on occasion so through no fault of his he is needing a new home where he will be loved and ideally worked.
  15. Yes mate sure is. Its a shame cause they really love him but there u go.
  16. Hello all. I have been contacted by the owners of one of the pups I bred this summer. They are no longer able to keep the pup and have decided that they would like it to go to a new home. They have informed me that the pup is non destructive/vocal and he has a strong working instinct - he has caught a pheasant already. He is crate trained and good with other dogs. He can be a little willful but at roughly 6 months then this is a training issue that should easily be cured. They are offering this dog free to a good working home. I know this would make me worry that there was something very
  17. If he was flying/hunting at 1.6 and is not responding at 1.4 then I would not advise further weight loss without seeing the bird. Where abouts are you? Do you know how to feel the keel/have anyone near you that can do it for you? When you say the bird is manned well is this outside and does the bird eat well when walking it round? Sorry if this sounds like an interrogation but these factors and more are required before any meaninful advice can be given. Weight loss may be required but you only get this wrong once and with cold nights happening birds will go low quickly. Good luck with him
  18. Shows that the falcon is a gutsy bleeder but I always thought that falconers had respect for their quarry. Should have dispatched the quarry rather than filming it!! Sorry just dont agree with prolonging the suffering. There are too many pictures of birds ontop of live prey. Dispatch it and then take the pictures!!
  19. id wait and order a first clutch for next season while spending this season with u This would be my recommendation. I assume that you have considered this option but buying a second hand bird that is already trained will not teach the chap about the initial picking up and manning stage. I would think its far more satisfying for him to get an untouched bird, train it up and watch it progress onto its first kill. regards Ian
