  1. the decision to put a dog to sleep should never be lightly made but if there are kids in the equation then its an easy decision to make. At the end of the day the dog just feels an injection and then sleepy. Its humans who bring all the emotional baggage and think the act is worse for the dog than it is. In this case get the dog to a vet to see if its in pain or any reason for it being aggressive. Neutering will not solve this issue by itsself. A bad situation to be in but the owners need to realise what may happen
  2. Hello all. Had plenty of offers of pet homes for these boys but would really like a few more to go to working homes. If someone has a good working home and wants to make me a sensible offer please pm me. regards, ian
  3. Last time I saw you putting an offer up it was only two mojo's so either you have raided behind the back of the sofa or you are really impressed with the pups, lol.
  4. cheers Matt. I have heard that they certinally make good dogs for stalkers. As falconry dogs or for a shooter they are very good. I really want the breed to take off in the working circles. They are totally unspoilt by the show world. In their native country if it aint good in the field it woun't make the cut. I cant keep giving the pups away no matter how much I want to promote the breed. If someone out there can offer one a really good working home then contact me with their best offer and what they will do with the dog. The worse I can say is no. regards, ian
  5. thanks for sharing, cracking pictures. Not many finer sights than a pointer locked up. regards, ian
  6. You are right £700 for a pup is a considered purchase however if you find a breeder with these pups the average asking price will be higher. The stud dog owner has already told me that I should be charging more. The first litter was two girls. These were due to be given away to friends for free as I wanted to promote the breed within the falconry world because they have lots of potential. I still had to pay the stud fee and incure the other costs of raising a litter. Please be so kind as to tell me how I made any money from this. It was done purely for the love of the breed. This lit

nothing about training, loads of hunting in it but really is a great watch. Books will go into more detail about training in my opinion but Nick Fox has produced an informative set.
  12. that they are with a huge willingness to please. Mum has the temprement that everyone wants in a dog. As long as they are exercised properly they are great dogs to be round.
  13. not familiar with that receiver but the transmitter is worth almost half of what you paid so I reckon you have had a good bargain there.

    Hello all....

Welcome to the most additctive way of life there is. Most important advice is dont under estimate how much falconry will take over your life. Not that close to you but if you would like my take on anything feel free to pm me. regards, Ian
  15. cheers guys. They are slovakian rough haired pointers. Yes stroller once they start moving round the work level really picks up. Its not only mum who looks forward to them going at 8 weeks cause by then you wonder why you did it, lol. Mike Mo is coming along really well. Last time we were out watching her mark the warrens was amazing and not one false mark all day long. Considering she was only 10 months old it was fantastic. regards, ian
  16. Another addition to the hawking/shooting team, just have to figure out which one It was a long night with my girl going into labour at 10.30 last night and she had her last pup about 3.30 this afternoon. At 4 this morning I thought it was over as mum was knackered as a breached massive pup and went to sleep. Back in at 6.45. and she suprised me with another two. Then another at 8.30. The last one was some point around 3.30 but that one didn't make it. The vet only thought 3 or 4 so 7 good ones was a shock!!
  17. Hey there. Dont be negative, these are looking great. I will probably never make my own but love reading your posts and seeing the work involved. I can well understand the dissapointment when blades don't turn out the way you want but I am sure you learn from each one of these and the stuff you do turn out is amazing. regards, ian
  18. Looks good in the pics mate but even better in real life. You have done really well with this.

    Breaking point

Do you know how to assess the birds condition by feeling its keel? Does it feel sharp? It may well have flown for the previous owner at that weight but you have not had the bird long and it may still be settling down with you. I have only briefly flown a red tail in the past but know that they can be tempremental when they want. I personally would go back to basics with the bird. Limit the call offs to only 3 or 4 a session and give it a good reward each time, hence the low number of recalls per session. Get an instant responce and then good reward. Then step up the distace. good luc
