    I wanted a black and tan one, only a few in the country at the time, however they had a buck which they didnt want to keep as they had too many, I paid a WHOPPING £15!!!!!

    Well done to you for getting him back. Im not a Vet, but to me he doesnt seem ill, just completely malnourished and quite depressed. If he is eating better, drinking, is NOT being sick and his motions are ok, Id keep doing as you are doing. Id also be tempted to substitute the rice for Pasta. Give Tuna, Sardines and Pilchards in tomato sauce, plus anything else he will eat, but as you are doing, little and often.

    The program has instilled fear into pet owners, just as the media did to Rottweiler and Pit Bull/Staff owners, if you think I am lying, please check out the relevant breed rescues and national welfare organisations taking in these dogs. Yes but that goes for ALL breeders surely? How many on here breed staffs and the like? NO health screening at all, yet Staffs are affected with a lot of diseases, its always the same, if I dont see it, mine dont have it!     The reason the diseases were not around is because the dogs nor the verterinary science to recognise them wasnt either. Progress in the latter field has enabled much research and help into these diseases. The KC fund an awful lot of research, in fact a HUGE amount (ongoing) into diseases like the Cavaliers had, the program just "slightly" touched on that but didnt elaborate or give the full facts did they? What about CLAD in Irish Setters? KC funding has ERADICATED this disease totally from the breed, didnt mention that either!! They just wanted to cause a stink and they have, unfort

    Really? Like Cavaliers etc... you mean? They arent bred harshly are they? Im not sure I understand what you mean? if you dont breed dogs to a standard then you might aswell have a bunch of mongrels, because in time all dogs will be the same. Lurcher people are no different. Dont want a big dog, want a bigger head, want a faster pace, want a harsher coat...... see where I am going? just because there is no standard, doesnt mean Lurcher people are not specifically breeding for certain traits to produce a specific dog.     Spina bifida doesnt make a Ridgeback a Ridgeback either. The program FAILED to mention that dermoid sinus is NOT confined to Ridgebacks and does NOT only occur in the ridge, but it does often occur on a dogs back which is where the ridge is! retained testicles are inherited genetic defects, and there are people on here that have used dogs of that condition at stud. You are correct that a retained testicle can be removed however plenty dont do this and a strangulated testicle can happen in a flash and a dog can die very quickly from it. Toy Dogs?     Absolutely Neil yes. A retained testicle can become strangulated and the dog will be in agony, it can be sporadic and spontaneous and is often mistaked for pancreatitis. Undershot mouthes cause distress to dog in severe circumstances, they can be so they are unable to eat, and the front bottom jaw is suseptible to more damage because of its protrusion. Perfect conformation? Not me, but a dog that fits the standard well in both type and temperament. Dawn. I meant to say I havent bred a litter, but I do show dogs.
