  1. Whilst I appreciate the time and effort into training the Horses, I hate dressage, to me its nothing more than cirus tricks for public entertainment. See the Horse on the Bull fighing thread was sooo different and a lot more agile than that one appeared to be, just my opinion and I did enjoy the video, just i prefer to see horses in a more natural environment.

I have showed you links about horn shaving, there was a documentary not so long back about it too, Ill see if I can locate anything about it. The Bull NEVER wins in Spain, even if he kills the Matador, the next one kills him, no win, not fair, no sport. Rodeo Bulls are NOT bred to be killed, they are not purposely injured and compromised just to ensure the success of the person involved with fighting it. Apology accepted. Im off to Ikes now, much more dangerous than a Bull fight!!

I agree and Im pleased you are now well. However, tell me, was the Bull run into exhaustion before you encountered it? were its neck muscles severed so badly that its head could not be lifted? Was it suffering from horn shaving or extensive blood loss due to the barbs embedded in it neck? Or was it a Bull, in the field as nature intended? The latter I feel, and in that respect I fully understand your point.

Yes I disagree and I have given you proof, can you prove to the contrary? When was the last time you saw a Rodeo Bull killed buy the guy riding it? Be serious, we are talking about killing animals that have no way of escaping, that are injured and hindered BEFORE they begin, not trying to remain on ones back for 10 seconds and away they go!! You are welcome to insult me if it makes you feel better, however I am right in this instance and you have provided me with no evidence to the contary. My "mates" and I will also continue to watch the videos they return with and we will also contun

Thanks Jembo, I thought I was right. I assumed we were discussing Bull fighting as its a Spanish tradition more so than Portuguese.

I have seen videos from somebody who goes regularly to watch these fights, he loves it, but hates the underhand way in which they DO tamper with the animals. He has also seen other things that dont happen!!

Im not wrong, you are talking of the Portuguese way, not the Spanish way in which I thought the topic and sport was based upon.

I havent read all the posts but wanted to say Bull fighting is not fighting at all. The Bull loses every time. Its weakened by the horsemen so its head cant lift, all the neck tendons and muscles are severed and its exhausted, then a BIG MAN comes in and stabs it one more time! What a bunch of cowards!! Bring the Bull in wild off the land, leave his horns alone, dont tamper with them to make him unbalances, loose him in the ring with the Matador, MUCH fairer! then I could see the point! The Horse is amazing, I love Lusitanos and Andalusians, they are big but so agile, wonderful.
  10. Thanks guys. Looks like the Black Kite is correct, knew you lot would help me out!
  11. I love the Japanese Akita, the Akita was designed just for show. I board loads, temperaments are suspect on many, males particularly, rarely give any warning. Im not keen if Im honest although I appreciate their looks alone would attract some.
  12. Can any of you help ID this Bird? It was taken in Spain, its a wild Bird.
  13. Thanks both. Id recommend a good beginners SLR to begin with if you are serious about photography. Look at the Canon 450D or the 100d, Nikon do the D40 and the D60 too, also worth looking at.
  14. Whats his Von Willebrands status? Most Euro bred Dobes are free now.
  15. I didnt say 4yrs was too old!! I said it would be "pushing it" for a first litter now but Borderbody doesnt want "now" anyway he wants to wait another couple of years!! So IMO 6/7 years is MUCH too old for a first litter!
  16. Nice to be back Ian, well done!!
  17. My friend left her Border till she was 4 and she had one huge pup, dead, she mated her 12mths later and she had 3 live pups, 2 died. I think you are pushing it at the age she is for a first time, perhaps buy one in from similar breeding when the time is right?
  18. Dogs do this "break dancing" usually when they impacted anal glands or possily worms, if the latter, in a pup of that age Id say roundworms.
  19. Thanks Borderboy, scruufy tyke sums them up well! Thanks Towzer, much appreciated.
  20. I used to enjoy hunting Squirrels with my terriers but its illegal now, so i shoot them and the dogs retrieve them!
  21. Id wait untill he was about 14-16mths if he were mine. Some Borders do suffer from "late decent" but its usually one testicle and not both. Still, he is young yet, give it a bit more time, see if there is any change after Xmas, no harm will come in that time. If his nuts havent dropped he is infertile anyway, and yes they can go cancerous as the testicles are located outside the body as they need to retain a lower temperature, so removing them will be the safest option. Dawn.
  22. Dobermans are one of the most reliant working dogs ever! And I don't know whats so true to the breed about it switching off. It must have had terrible nerves and been badly trained, or been from English show lines. I don't know about a dobe lamping, but get a European working bred Doberman and it will do anything from pointing to search and rescue to schutzhund. I'm actually trying my dobe at lamping and he's showing great potential. As fast as a greyhound anyway and would have no hesitation about catching a rabbit. fast turning is harder, but I think he would catch a rabbit. (If we could
