    The thing is Tim there are hunters like me and you where it is engrained in us and then there are the pretenders who just play at the game. We are out every week , 52 weeks of the year ....I cant sit in the house it drives me mental . Pity we live so far apart as its really difficult to find such passionate hunters as us ?

    That is the voice mail I got on my phone. Seeing as I cant stay in I had a couple of hours this morning . Pulling up in the farmyard I spotted 2 squirrels chasing each other so I grabbed my gun and got a right and left ? I thought it would be a male and female but know it was 2 females. As I was trudging up the field I spotted a rabbit which was also added to the bag. Set up on fresh drilled barley and the birds decoyed brilliantly. I shot 2 rooks with 1 shot ....the pair were gliding in lovely side by side so waited until they were about 20 yds away and lined the pair up ,

    Buttolo works on roe and muntjac but not fallow.

    I don't know any experts either , every day is different and we are always learning. Some days everything goes to plan and others are a nightmare ?

    Bloody cold enough last night to set them off ....had a hail shower and it was 1c on the way home. Fingers were freezing off ?

    Foxes are very opportunistic and will take whatever they find. Maybe the calf had died or was very sick ?
