It's all down to personal preference and budget
Czs are great workhorses but if want a bit of quality the Sako will be nicer.
I've got a Ruger 77/22 which has served me well but a .22 is a .22 at the end of the day.
Well the geese have been on the winter barley the last 2 mornings so this morning was the time to have a go.
I was set up on the field by 6.20am in the dark under a beautiful red sky full of anticipation, will they come or not ?
As soon as it was breaking light the 1st skein of 10 birds drifted towards the decoys but not fully committed so I took the lead bird which took 2 shots sending it crashing into the earth.
Then the birds started to flight and I took a few right and lefts ....the flight was all over in half an hour but I thoroughly enjoyed it taking 11 birds ?
Now I
Farmer rings this morning to say the geese have found his winter barley and can I have a look. I arrived around lunchtime and pushed off around 100 without a shot. As it was early I decided to have a mooch in the nearby copse for a squizzer. A cock pheasant burst into the air and was soon in the gamebag ? followed by 4 squirrels.
I then decided to set up the decoys and see if any geese came back .....well a few skeins were flying about but not interested in the decoys at all.
One skein did come close enough ........2 shots fired and 2 geese fell from the air .
Good luck on the fallow.
I'm on 4 species this year Red, Sika, CWD and roe so need Fallow and Muntjac.
Stavross has kindly invited me to try for fallow which leaves muntjac .
Anybody got any muntjac so I can complete the 6 this year ??
Just returned from my 2 day trip to Scotland in search of Hinds.
1st day the weather was horrendous with heavy rain and wind, consequently I blanked in the morning.
Afternoon session my mate was shooting taking an injured roe buck with a broken front leg and in poor condition plus his 1st red hind right on dusk ?
2nd day the weather had improved and I shot a hind and calf ?
Beautiful surroundings and a nice few days away ?
