  1. I havent cleaned my .22 for years and it still shoots great.....
  2. I also have a .22/250 and it is far superior to the others you mentioned.
  3. I think its a good idea as you must have a licence for a shotgun or centrefire rifle so why not an air rifle.
  4. Nice trophies , must have cost a fortune ???? Which country are you from ?
  5. Top class morning mate , it doesnt get much better than that.....
  6. Yep I agree it is welcome to have a mature discussion without ending up in unnecessary bitching and name calling. We all have different opinions and must learn to live with them !!!
  7. I never said that this was the norm but on this occasion it was impossible to get closer to the deer. I think it boils down to each individuals confidence and ability , I wouldnt advocate a shot at that distance to someone who is not confident or experienced. I also know people who shoot deer at extreme range but thats another subject , each person has to decide on the day whether to take the shot or not . I am comfortable with this shot and wouldnt hesitate to take the same shot again today , it puts more deer in the larder Stick to your own capabilities and everyone is happy !!
  8. Hi John , my limit is about 250 yards but I have shot out to around 300 before. I only take these shots when it is impossible to get any closer due to the topography of the ground.
  9. I was out this morning and managed a nice shot on a doe at 220 yards , she went straight down without even a kick.... Still some white stuff about Foxdropper , winter still claiming casualties Look where charlie has been having a nibble......
  10. Its been very quiet up here on the foxing front , I was beginning to give up all hope of bagging any more when I decided to have a look out last night. Glad I did as I pulled off a very pleasing shot , I placed the crosshairs on top of the foxes head and the bullet dropped into its neck at a respectable 245 paces
  11. Yep Martin she had all her female attributes but she wasnt pregnant. I suppose she was an old doe and past her best. Local I have had 3 antlered does in the past but this one just had raised pedicles. Ive shot them with a couple of inches growth before.
  12. Had this doe at the weekend with raised pedicles , you can see if you look closely.....
  13. The weekend saw me and Ratcherman travelling to view some new ground in the Scottish Borders , the syndicate captain said bring your rifles as well. We arrived Saturday lunchtime and started to view the ground , the weather was extremely cold but with blue skies. We saw a couple of does bounding away over a clear fell and glassed another pair catching the afternoon sunshine. Evening stalk came around and Ratch duly took 2 does from one of the many highseats on site , I blanked seeing nothing. Next morning though I spied 3 on abanking sunning themselves and had a great stalk into them , 500
  14. As I said on the phone mate , brilliant. Never heard of anyone doing it before . I would be happy just to see them tied let alone pulling off the shot !!!!
  15. I would also like to hear peoples comments on IOR scopes as my mate has just ordered one from Border Barrels , I gather that they are really good and a lot cheaper than S & B and Swaro for the same spec ....
  16. I was out Sat morning and had a good result , started off with a really old dog fox with all his teeth missing ...... As he fell.. Followed by a roe doe shortly afterwards ....... as she fell
  17. I once shot a fox and left it for collection after lamping the rest of the farm. On my return the fox had been dragged about 8ft from its original place and its shoulder had been devoured by a fox as there are no badgers in this area !!!
  18. Nice pics , thanks for sharing ..............
  19. This topic has been discussed to death but a 22.250 is a great choice . Im sure other will suggest .222 .223 .204 .243 they all do the job.
  20. Well done mate , a a very successful outing.
  21. I was out with Ratcherman the other day for a stroll in the snow. We started nice and early and it wasnt long before Ratcherman happened upon this young doe and took her with his .243 We then decided to have a wander with the shotguns and see if we could get a bit sport. We had a very enjoyable walkabout and ended up with a varied bag. The snowman enjoyed himself as well ..... :11: :11: :friends: Cheers mate for a great day !! Well have another one soon !!
  22. That fox is a fine specimen Barry ... 22.6 lb is very heavy . Chuffed for you !!
