No I dont use a tripod, never have, but I am definately thinking about it, cheers for that link Byron will have a look at it..
  8. Not cheating at all, take the info, wish I had been helped along when I got my Fuji S2 pro many moons ago..Ive done 3 photography courses too, have a look at your local college or school for night classes, these help around all the technical stuff, and usually incorperate photoshop, my camera club is running an advanced course in June, my name is down already..Pity you didnt live closer, could have had you sorted setting wise in one day.. Everyone on here that puts up decent pics has served an apprentiship,
  9. Take something from this, especially about the matrix metering, as I also mentioned before..you are using spot meetering, this and centre wighted which are other options on this camera are to be worked up to, and the matrix metering is very, very good in the magority of situations..from the exif data on the canada goose, I also see you have the camera set in P..where the camera does everything for you, supposidly, until your firing into bright light, lots of contrast in your pics etc and then you have to trick the camera a bit..get on to A mode, this is much better, I almost never use P..Read
  10. Thats the way to do it, pleanty of pics..like the merecat
  11. Cheers, this goes on a lot in this colony of more than 150,000, they do kill one another.
  12. Hi mate, can you put 2 pics on here untouched up, one you think that is a bit dark, and one that you think that is not focussed. There is a lot to learn, the D200 is a professional camera, but its a one that is not to bad to come to terms with.. What in camera setting arfe you using for sharpening? you will find it in the Shooting Menue, where it says set picture control.
  13. Had a few friends with saluki bred stuff, good for the fens, but limited up here in smaller paddock fields, stony ground and rough terrains..they always seemed to be the ones that for one reason or another got injured, bad feet, tear easily..seen some good ones chasing hares obviously, but injury prone dog not for me..
  14. Is that tip only for the D200....or can it be used with other camera's ie Canon. Cheers SINDASOX Unlike Nikons, Canon white balance is usually pretty good left on auto... But yes, if you feel the urge, setting the WB to cloudy will warm the pics up a bit. On the whole though, Nikon pics do tend to be a bit BETTER. Blackstaff - have you tried calibrating the lens to the camera? Not even sure if this is possible with the D200, but it's not unusual for the odd lens to be slightly out, and it can make a lot of difference. Nearly bit there hon,
  15. No messing with these guys once they start an arguement.. And a very sore looser..
  16. Goodun Snaps..have you got a nacro/micro lense, Im just using my 300mm f4 handheld
  17. Yeah,,sometimes the DX sensor cannot be replaced at times..especially for wildlife. Been doing comparison shots all week..
  18. That was taken with my 300mm lense snaps..
  19. Nice! was that on your D700? Nope matie, the D300
  20. Not into creepy crawleys, but mangaged to get this old girl..
  21. Thats the way to do it..Ive spent literally hours with settings and test shots, and everytime you get a new camera a little more work has to be done..switch your blinkies on..check your historgram to stop over exposure, there are many authors on the web who list their setting for the D200, use these as a guide only..but listen to the people who are using Nikon, others give a more generic view on photgraphy, not need specific info to Nikon to get the best out of what is a professional camera..Ive searched the web for focus problems with the D200, found virtually nowt,,and must say being a membe
