  1. When you say boots i presume not wellies. Try ukcovers.co.uk i think they are doing some pretty decent looking boots called "game country boots" for £60 on offer from £120.
  2. I would make sommit like that if i had the cash and room. When i let my ferrets run round the garden and the neighbours gardens they slide under the grass. how on earth would you find em under that grass.
  3. Thats the beauty of doing chemistry a level and having a teacher who got kicked out of his old school for trying to make TNT. he got close just couldnt get the last carbon in the chain. at least you know what chemical go bang and how far to stand back.
  4. baring in mind im still at school. 1. the classic drawin pin under seat. 2. getting 4 mates to push a computer chair with you on it and try and clear a flight of stairs (failed) 3. left bunsen burners on for next class to turn light on. (not to clever) 4. Redirecting the wood work dust extractor fan so it was in the room. (couldnt see anything) 5. glued teachers pens to tables. 6. Load up porn instead of history documentary so showed the class 7. Organise everyone to fall of chairs at a certain time 8. play "change places" (someone shout out "change places!" everyone changes places
  5. Theres loads of different coloured rabbits on romney marsh and on one feild on my permission there seems to be a few, strange how it just the one feild (its separated by a railway and a main road) maybe just one warren/family of em.
  6. as its said Bailkal dont come standardised. my one got a crooked rib along the top and god knows what chokes. most chokes will kill suffiently, and its down to preference and range, just give it a go and you'll kill with it no doubt.
  7. I think locators are absolutly fine if you think you need one. like tiercel i only use jills only had one hob when i was first starting (was really my uncles but anyway) and he would drag rabbits out if they wouldnt bolt then go and get the rest of em. i personally have not the wealth of experience that tiercel but i did start when i was 3 (so 14 years experience) but i was taught by my uncle who been ferreting since god knows. im presumining tiercel thats the dog you was talkin about, is it a GWP beacause it dont half look like my GWP X Britanny spaniel.
  8. As i said everyones welcome to their opinions and ways of doin things.
  9. Off topic i know but, have you had an insurance quote yet? my mate was wanting a 125cc for running around on and the cheapest was £4k. i personlly would use a car bit more room for all your kit and can take the gun as well.
  10. Why bother taking a spade? If you can't locate your ferret where you going to dig? I never used to use a locator, but i learn't the hard way, hope for your sake you don't have to. i have pointer who is pretty nifty at findin the ferrets and my dad worked for the water board and has a listenin stick thing we leave in the car. but thanks for being kind, most people like to rip in to me.

  12. Im not sure what the choke they use but i would suggest a cylinder and a 1/4,
  13. I know im goin to get flack for this from aload of people who think im wrong but we're all welcome to opinions and different methods of doin things, arent we know? right, first of all alot depends on how old your ferret is, if its well handled ( you dont want it being timid of you or it will shoot back down a hole) as many people will agree. now for the bit i'll get the flack for (i've had it all before) I personally i have never used nor have i ever thought of needing to use a ferret finder, my ferrets will come back to me and i have never had a ferret "properly" lay up. If you fe
  14. does anyone know of a warm, waterproof jacket and one that is not too rustly for night shooting and picking up, preferably not camo just olive, for around the £ mark. been lookin at the Ram jackets but lil bit dear for my wallet.
  15. They seem to work. just gotta be bit careful not to be too brutal with em but same with everything bar the fiberglass expensive ones. also the lil notches are handy if you want to fix the net to them.
  16. my uncle has a hand made smerton made and fitted to him from scratch, thats a really nice gun i can only gorp at what a holland and holland would be like. i dont understand all these rich and famous sniffin up all their cash id be straight down to holland and holland for a pair of game guns. At the CLA game fair i couldnt help myself wandering in the H&H tent, the blokes were soo friendly and approachable even let me swing a "Royale" around very very nice gun.
  17. 2 jills 1x polcat 1x albino 431
  18. agreed a baikal does sound like the ticket, dependin on your statue a 12 bore may be a tad heavy on the recoil side so if you can try a 12 bore and a 20 bore possibly go to a clay ground and hire one of each or ask someone you know, they will do exactly the same job as eachother bar the 12 having bit more lead and the 20 having less recoil. personally i use a 20 and im 17, i probably "should" progress to a 12 but if it aint broke dont fix it, i shoot fine (well sometimes like yesterday)
  19. If i would you id get a .410 with 3" chamber. i think Baikls new cost £150 for a break barrel single shot but can get second hand ones for a few quid my one was £30 for a pre war webly bolt.
  20. Urban foxes seem to be alot bolder or just stupid. i was followed by a fox only 10 yrds behind me whilst i was out walking the dog, good job i had on a lead didnt fancy draggin a dead fox past all the townies my way. i've tried sqeaking foxes in town and they dodnt seem to be bothered by it dont know whether they just never heard it before or just not hungry to come runnin and investigate. and one of my chickens has chased a fox off in the garden. was quite amusing to watch just dont want to tempt fate.
  21. i was thinking about makin myself sommit like this, even though i only have two jills having sommit like this would allow me to leave them after its too late to ferret and go out longnetting of with the rifles. i wouldnt want to leave them in their carrying box all that time. where did you get that mesh ??
  22. Regarding No. 12 i wouldnt have thought they do that in their own country. agree with the rest tho.
  23. I shoot a 20 and i find it does everything i need, i shoot all the same things at relativly the same range as people with the 12 bores. As for the cartridges being expensive, yeah they are a tad more expensive but i can get a box of 25 for around £3.50 and that Experess fibre 7/8oz no 5. I would however say that choice is limited compared to 12bore i.e they dont make express supreme game or heavy shot, and if you want to buy non toxic some are ridiculous prices work out to be about £4.60 a shot! but the ones i use (eley VIP bismuth) are about £14/25 not bad all considered.
  24. they seem a bit pointless to me, expensive ammo if you can find it and does the same job that a centrefire or .17HMR does. just a fad i think will be quick to die out i thinks,

I got told by my vet not to use frontline on my ferret, theres a tool thats an "L" shape and got a lil "V" at the end just hook it around and twist it and pulls it all out teeth and all, done it on the dogs dozens of times and re useable,
