  1. Just to expand upon a point raised above, can anyone tell me the best colour for my pellet tin so as I can maximise energy retention...???
  2. You could've got a lovely pre-owned AA410 for that!!!! Only kidding, enjoy your new rifle, Mole Cheers.
  3. There was a picture of one of those funny inflatable guns to begin with and then it went on to proper airguns Really though, that looks like a very nice bit of kit, I just hope Diana don't price it too high like they do with most of their springers... Cheers
  4. Hi, lads. I've been given an old Meteor from a friend of mine that's probably not been used for nearly 30 years. I think it's either a Mk2 or 3 (serial no. TG43720) and much to my suprise the bloody thing still shoots in spite of a knackered breach seal, weak spring and the useual BSA barrel wobble I'm going to fix it up for my boys to use but the rear sight's paggered.... I don't want to fit a scope as I want them to be able to use open sights. Has any of you kind folks got an old BSA rear sight kicking about? Any of the old plastic ones will fit, Airsporter, Mercury, Gold Star,
  5. I've just been given an old Meteor today. It's a bit beat up but it'll do much better for my lads to practice with than the Ratty they're useing now. Well it will be once Ive fixed it up!!
  6. Is it really worth the risk of prosicution and losing your gun for the sake of about 1ft-lb?? Use the correct kit, mate, it's not worth it Cheers.
  7. Only on Theoben's own guns and the HW90, mate. All the retro fit kits are sealed.
  8. As it 'appens a mate of mine is moving house and he's found an old Meteor in his loft that he'd forgotten about. He rang me yesterday to ask if I'd like it as he's not used it since he was a kid and he's 42 now..... Same as me. I've no idea what it's like but it's not been used for nearly 30 years!!! I'm going to fix it up 'cos it'll be ideal for my boys to use You've really done a class job there, Davy, nicely done Cheers.
  9. I'll show you all how miss a target good and proper!!!! Not me, Davy. It's just nice to be somewhere I can do this sort of thing and it's always more fun when not alone, ain't it. When I'm on the estate I've always got the keeper with me so practice is very limited and I'm normally carrying a sack of grain or tools and sh*t so the gun tends to be slung on my back ready for the odd squizzer or whatever. The farm where I shoot has a farmer's wife who's anti shooting so I've got to keep out of sight, out of her mind and keep the noise well down. The only place where I can do what I like
  10. Until recently I'd have said my Luger 3-9x42, 30mm tube, 4A ret. A good solid basic scope with a very sharp picture. I got the thing from ebay about three years back from a place in Germany, half price so I thought I'd got myself a bit of a bargain. A few weeks back it got a right good soaking and it let in some water, upon closer inspection I could see that the 'o' ring round the front of the objective lense wasn't seated properly. Some feckin' bargin, I reckon I've bought a second Cheers.
  11. Have a look at the JSR/Leapers scopes too, Mole. Very good value and strongly built with springers in mind. I use a not very fasionable 2-7x32 on my Diana and it really is one of the nicest airgun scopes I've ever used. Very clear, enough mag for me and built especially for higher recoiling springers. It's as good in low light as pretty much any scope I've used before in spite of it's 32mm lense. Cheers.
  12. Thanks for that, Mole and thanks for the comments, lads. The pigeon in the last pic was the only one I could retrieve sadly. I'm not familiar with the lay of the land yet and three woodies and a ferral fell from trees that were overhanging a very steep rocky gully. I could see all four dead on the ground but I couldn't get to them... There's no pics of me as I didn't want to spoil anyones dinner!! Cheers.

  14. My Dad was a small arms instructor in the RAF Regiment so I grew up with the idea of guns and shooting. He used to take me out with friends with lurchers although we never owned a dog ourselves... I used to love going coursing and ferreting with my old man and his mates My Dad introduced me to a game keeper friend of his when I was 13 and I started helping out on the estate in my free time. Got my first 'proper' airgun, an HW80 (after Meteors, Hawks, ASIs and all sorts of crap.... ) at 14 and also my first shotgun, a Master 12g S/S. I've been helping out and shooting on the same esta

  16. Thanks for all the kind comments, fellas. I've just emailed the pics of the day to SEMole who's kindly offered to post them for me. I can down load to Photobucket no problems but I just can't get them back on to the site, I just get an error message each time I try. Hopefully I'm getting a much newer machine from a friend in a week or two so it's bye bye to my very elderly Dell That'd be great, Si. Give us a shout and I'm sure we can sort something out, mate. Be good to meet up Thanks again, lads and a VERY big thanks to Simon for another top day's shooting. Cheers!!!!
  17. Thanks for the PM Mr Mole, I'll email them to you tommorow
  18. Hi, folks. I met up with Simon last Sunday for a bit of a practice and a bit of a mooch. I've decided to dispense with the useual coffee as it makes me shake like a mo-fo.... I think I must be caffine sensative!!! so a glass of water did just fine.... When we got to Simon's shoot it was fairly good weather, quite still, a bit cloudy but pretty good. I was setting up my Leapers 2-7x32 on my Diana 52 after my Luger went tits up after it got soaked last time and caused me problems when out with Benji last week.... All was well, zeroed in nicely and I was a happy bunny The weather th
  19. You can buy new stuff from the far east and Turkey etc and they can be used to good effect but they ain't much cop really. Crappy build, shite triggers, noisey and just generally not too nice to use... If you shop around, you'll get yourself a really nice used gun that someone's paid 4 of 5 hundred quid for for less than 200 sheets. HW80, 90, 95, 97, 77 or Air Arms TX, HC or maybe a Pro Sport. Also the Diana range is worth a look, the 48 and 52 will fall within your price if you can find one.
  20. You've been told wrong then, Hogdog, for £200 you'll get yourself a really nice used springer Without wanting to sart an argument here ( ) if you look for a good used HW or Air Arms springer, you'll not go far wrong. The guns are built to last a lifetime and the worst you're likely to find with a used one is maybe it'll need a service kit ( spring and seals ) that'll cost you around £25 for DIY or £40 ish for a shop to fit it for you. Cheers.
