  1. Nice one!! Now where's my goat? Cheers!
  2. It is a shame, it used to be (and still should be) a nice place to live. I think we've lost our national pride as a nation and that's really sad.... One wank government after another and we're mostly like sheep, following blindly whatever we're told then having a quite grumble to ourselves over a pint or six. I take my hat off to you Welsh and Scots. You had a good look round, thought f**k this and did your own thing. It's a bloody shame we don't do that in England. I love my country but I don't like it very much anymore, if that makes scense.. Cheers.
  3. Sod it! Go no then, English hunters be know. Be proud from the boarders to the White Cliffs!! Cheers!! (No chav jokes, please?)
  4. Thanks, fellas!! Cheers.
  5. This is class!! LMFAO!! One good point though, being English abroad is no good thing. You can spot most English tourists a f*****g mile off. Loud, pi**ed, stupid cloaths etc. Makes me ashamed to be English sometimes... Then they sit in English bars, drinking English beer, eating English food, complaining about the heat, language, local food and drink etc. whist getting smashed out of their heads being rude and stroppy to all an sundry. Hey ho. This is modern England. Rock on...... Cheers.
  6. Yep. That about sums it up perfectly! Cheers.
  7. I changed the barrel on my good old HW90 a while ago from .177 to .20. I've used H and N Baracudas for a long time and picked up the wrong tin the last time I went out..... Bugger! Cheers.
  8. Spot on! The shooter makes the shot with the gun in their hands. Know your gun, it's limits and yours. Cheers.
  9. There's really not any more or less recoil, it's just not the same. A coil spring tends to have a fairly lazy recoil and a slow lock time ( the time between the trigger releasing and the pellet leaving the barrel ). With a gas spring in they tend to go off with a bit more of a snap, for want of a better word. The lock time is a lot faster and you'll feel that through the gun. There's not really a down side to this, as 'cos the lock time's faster, it makes them a lot less hold sensative compared to a coil spring. You also get rid of most of the rattles and twangs as well. Never min
  10. I for one am glad to see some folks go. I've not been on here for that long but have seen so many topics degenerate into insults and p***ing contests. There's no need for that type of crap. We all have a point of view but if there is no point, just leave it alone. Cheers.
  11. Are we back to piston mounted lights and glass pellets? Told you there is a market! We will show them the light ...... the side effect of us getting rich in the process has nothing to do with it ;) The side effect of me ever getting rich will be my early death with a big grin on my face!

  13. There really isn't a general rule for this. Two springs from the same batch may not be the same. I had an HW80 an upsettingly long time ago and fitted an OX (I know, I know!) when they first came onto the market. I'd leave it cocked for an hour or more at a time and it lasted over two years and I used that gun a lot. When it got tired, fitted another, two months later it was shagged out! I've had similar dealings with other springers too. It can be luck of the draw but mostly you get what you pay for. I've been useing gas-rams for the past ten years or so and so far, they've been p
  14. stalking rabbits up to 20 yards with an airgun is a lot more skillfull and more enjoyable than nocking them over at 200 yards with something wich could easily kill a deer let alone a rabbit well thats my opinion anyway. You've kind of missed the point there, Aaron. Go back and read again. It's the guys job and needs the best tools for the job. He's not having a mooch around shooting for the pot. Cheers. P.S. You try hitting a rabbit and those kind of ranges, then come back on here and tell us there's no skill involved!
  15. With an attitude like that, you'll not get far in keeping. Good luck. You'll need it.
  16. Hi, mate. How long's a piece of string? It will weaken a lot sooner if left cocked for a long time. I used to do that with springers and have had springs last for a couple of years or a couple months. One way round the problem is to fit a gas-ram to your Lightning. You can leave them cocked forever with no problems. It'll make the gun shoot loads better too. There's a chap on here that sells them ( donnyc, I think). 40 quid. Cheers.
  17. Any shooter useing ANY type of gun has the odd bad shot. I've seen more birds winged with shotguns than enough! Don't give up, mate. Like you say they've got limitations but so long as you keep within them, you've done what any responsible shooter should do no matter what type of gun's being used. Cheers.
  18. Ney, ney. The fast and the swift, you may find, hit the mark better they will. Just keep away from the 'too lite' side of .177, or down-range trouble you will have. Cheers.
  19. I'll also considerably drop the power.... I use mine for close range stuff only. Feral pigeons in barns, etc. I've had umpteen crows & maggies when they occasionally stray into range, as well as two rabbits I've managed to surprise over a hedge on the way back to the car! Yep. CO2 and short barrels don't mix. You'll ruin it. Cheers.
  20. Well at least we know who was Keano Reeves's voice coach in Dracular.... Silly cow!
  21. All my shoots over the years have come from word of mouth. It's amazed me how a friend of a friend knows this bloke etc. though some folks do look at you funny when shooting's mentioned! Follow any lead, no matter how small it seem. It's worked for me. Good luck, mate, and don't give up! Cheers.
  22. That's right. CO2's no good for hunting. I must remember that the next time I use my King Ratty!! Cheers.
  23. That's one of the best replys I've ever seen. Totaly right! It's not all about what we can take, chaps, it's maybe about what we can sometimes give back. Cheers.
