  1. Maybe this should be titled 'tell everyone what you do and where you do it'
  2. "TheBigDogs training techniques".....?... Apparently it works with other animals too ....Funnily enough that was just before it formed a limp............... :clapper:

  4. Its ok Simoman, i have declared the area around me Petesland, just working on the flag and currency atmo. Anyway it helps the lincolnshire gene pool......... ah i see what you mean, fresh blood could pollute the generations of inbreeding Great write up, really enjoyed it ......But just couldn't resist this
  5. Here's a link: http://www.inovatech.co.uk/shop/home.php Before I got mine I phoned them to ask a few questions and they were really helpful.
  6. The mild weather means that natural food's more plentiful at the moment, but if we get a cold snap the birds'll flock to the feeders. I agree with millet about the Jackdaws, imo shooting's the best option but those feeders should keep them off.
  7. Agreed As for roe being out on windy nights, a very experienced lad once told me that they dont like the fact that they cant hear properly in the noisy, windy wood at night and what I have observed would seem to back him up What I've found is that they're rarely out in the open on windy nights.
  8. What your describing is quite common in areas that have quite a lot of activity, people exercising dogs ,horseriders and bike riders or other forest activity they will resort to becoming more nocturnal feeding on darker nights as they feel more secure, but under normal circumstances in quite forest they will stand out under the moonlight and feed, Roe deer are very adaptable to adjust there lifestyle to suit their existence. Stu I understand what you're saying, and it does make sense, but i've noticed this over 30+ years and in various locations (albeit none that can be described as tr
  9. I find this interesting, as although I'm only an occasional stalker, I am out at night after fox and Rabbit very regularly, regardless of weather and moon phase, and my observations regarding Deer (Roe) would suggest that they prefer to be out in the open more during the darker nights. I almost always see more out in the fields feeding and resting, on the darker, moonless nights than when there's moonlight. They also seem to be far less easily spooked on the darker nights too. It'd be interesting to hear whether anyone else has noticed similar behaviour, or is it just me?
  10. I've just read the thread about scary films, and judging by most of the replies I think daytime lamping must be very popular!
  11. I recommend the Tiablo too. The scope mount that comes with it's a bit fiddly though, and I replaced mine with a deben mount.
  12. Good post , and I also strongly believe that the best Dogmen & women tend to be the ones that readily admit to not knowing it all. You might not be able to teach an old Dog new tricks, but a good Dogman is always open to learn more.
  13. I was just trying to make the point that not all of the older hunting men were as good as some might think. When I remember back to when I first got into the game there were a lot of clueless people about then too (though at the time I had no way of knowing the difference), and I regularly thank my lucky stars that I never tagged along with some of those. The two men from whom I learned the basics are both sadly long dead, and I feel very lucky to have been taken under their wing.
  14. I think you've made the right choice to get some training Rob, you never know when it might be needed. I've always been up to date with my training throughout my working life, and I've never actually been in a life or death situation, but I've been first on the scene at a couple of accidents and I've used the basic stuff until the emergency services arrived, and I was very thankful that I didn't have to just stand there wondering what to do.
  15. That's how a lot of us learned the game years ago, but if you're completely honest I'm sure you'll agree there was a lot of clueless people about back then too. If a keen young lad tagged along with these sort, then there was little hope for them really.
  16. Spot on. It never ceases to amaze me the things these so called 'animal lovers' do.
  17. Thieving is bad enough at any time, but those who prey on the elderly and vulnerable really are the lowest of the low, and should be punished accordingly. Though unfortunately they tend to get off with little more than a slapped wrist
  18. Sounded more like it kept closing them!...3 nights!!
  19. I'll let you know when I've watched it.................. But don't hold your breath
  20. You should put the Dog across the Easter Bunny in your avatar, then advertise the litter as being 'from a line of real legends'

Boils my piss how we've managed to bred a whole generation of thick folk who are so easily entertained & look up to people like Katie Price/Jordan as someone to be respected, admired & emulated... You've hit the nail on the head..................... Which is what should've been done to those daft f**kers at birth
