  10. Fairplay...Your taking it all to heart man...Just like you, I keep badly bred, three legged, one eyed pot lickers that only once have won 1st place in the 3 legged class when they where the only dog entered, but dont take it too seriously, your just upsetting yourself.
  11. No, all BASC members must pay double and go to the back of the queue
  12. The same poles you use for your traditional net might be ok, Id try for something a little slimmer & longer though, it might be awkward fitting them all on a basket, but worth a try. You can attach them with castration bands, or bands made from a bicycle tyre tube, the length needs to be enough to fit across the basket without falling in. As for the basket, the hoops to hold the poles work better as the net can snag in single uprights too easy - To weld one up yourself, Just copy the standard hoop design & dont make it too big, the small the better. As for 100yrd or 2 x 50's...For
  13. A good friend of mine owns a well bred Irish Terrier / Greyhound, and by all accounts, It is a top dog
  14. Cut yourself 2 dozen pegs, and practice, you may find you need ten, you'll probably find you need a few less, its what suits yourself. The rest you will always have for when you loose one or maybe break one. As for nets, its a personal choice thing, 2 x 25yards would be easier to work, but more pins, possibly more pegs as well. If it was me, I would go for 2 x 50 yards and practice a lot in the day time hours, if you find them awkward you can cut them down Dont be concerned about 4z - Its not too light for you, it will lift a little more nonsense from the ground, but the lighter w
  15. Piss on your hands before you use the worms But wash them before you eat your sandwiches
  16. I would recommend 4z...Its holds the rabbits well For the mesh size, I would choose 2 1/8 giving you 4 1/4 on the diamond...Its up to you For Hazel wands, a good estimate would be as thick as your index finger, they look light when your cutting them, but they will season up well. As for the mesh free running on the lines, if I understand you properly, yes you tie hitch them onto your pegs, but in between they run free, it needs to be like this to and have some slack / bag to catch and hold the rabbits... A selvedge is on the edge of the net, similiar to the mesh only doubled.
  17. When it comes to marking you can't really 'teach' or 'train' it. Just expose the dog to a lot of holes, especially ones you have seen rabbits drop into. And if possible, let it watch some being bolted out. Don't praise the dog too much as this could lead to false marking. Finally - another type of dog might be a more useful ferreting partner and ANY (well almost) dog can be trained to not 'savage' rabbits. In fact i would go so far as to say most working dogs do not unless a bit useless. One last thing, if you intend the dog to grab / hold the rabbits in the net, then you wont be able
  18. Have you got a patent on that? Dont put a picture up if you haven't
