  1. Never tried Orthovox, but have used my Bellman and flint with a pack of hounds every Saturday and Sunday for last two years and never given trouble once. No tape nothing required and battery lasts forever. Good luck
  2. We have a pack of hounds and they often eat grass to make themselves sick. Never seen one to eat grass and not get sick. Make sure you worm dog well raw flesh/mince is best feed possible but it will give them worms. All the best. Johnny85
  3. A bar (T-bar) and shovel would do. Luxuries include: Small pick 5'-6' Foot bar for moving rock Slash hook Nets (for drians) Folding saw Torch Bleeper Everthing else is just more to wash and carry and stop your friends stealing. P.S To take fox out. you will need one gutsy foxhound or quick pair of hands or hardy terrier
  4. We meet a pair together three weeks ago. Can hear them screaming last few weeks, on nights when its not actually raining. Good hunting Johnny85
  5. ask your local butcher for his scrapes. mix this in with any dog nuts. trip or heart raw is good, also ash local chipper for his scrapes once a week. this is great as it gives them plenty of oils and grease for a good coat. Best of luck

  9. I think this post has turned the same as the post couple of weeks ago on Brian Nuttal, that is where you have young lads with nimble fingers good for typing and ready to knock the fathers of our sport. I am only 24 so I come under the young lad bracket but I would never knock Older men such as DH or BN. Firstly out of respect to older generations but not only that, these men have made a name for themselves because people listen. If people did not listen they would be forgotten. So if people are still listening it means they are stil talking sense and stuff worth listening to. I personnally thi
  10. thanks for the help lads, have you any ideas for the spice mix that I can get easily in the supermarket
  11. does anyone know a quick and easy way to make billtong
  12. hi I dont know the man myself, but many of my friends do. he hunted with my Dad when Dad hunted a pack of Hare Hounds in England. But what I do know is a very good friend of mine is a huntsman of a pack of foxhounds here who has two dogs straight off Brian and some of their pups. And they are some of the best fox dogs I have seen. Small narrow and real boxers with brains. Brilliant little dogs. I do think though that a lot of dogs especially black dogs claim to be Nuttall. All the Best Johnny85
  13. My Dad knew him well. there is an interview with him or an article on him in the Working Terrier Year books sold by David Harcombe and a few pics of him.

  15. Thanks to all for your comments, can i remind everyone this is only my advice not telling anyone anything. However I would like to back up where my advice is coming from. I wrote to SF and I have a letter signed on behalf of Gerry Adams on SF headed note paper from their Dublin Office. It does confirm that they intend to Ban All Bloodsports in particular Fox-Hunting and Hare-coursing. In big Bold writing on the bottom of the letter the exact wording is: "Text of motion adopted at Sein Fein Ard Fheis 20/21 Feburary 2009: "This Ard Fheis calls for a total ban all blood sports, including h
  16. Lads, Please take note when voting that it is not just the greens trying to ban our sport but now Sein Fein have jumped on the band wagon. At their recent Ard Fheis They announced that they want to ban ALL BLOODSPORTS. In particular they mention Hare-coursing and Fox-hunting. When questioned about banning ALL bloodsports they said they would not ban fishing and shooting game for human consumption, but that Fox-hunting and Hare-coursing/Hunting will definitly be banned. I am not telling anyone how they should vote but please make ALL your friends aware of this All the Best Johnny85
  17. JUst a quick question. This is not a dig at anyone just a question out of interest. All these dogs that bolt and never have to be dug to, have they never got a fox in a pocket or dead end. Like if this is the case surely they have either let the fox pass them or have walked. Like if you drive up adead end road you have to reverse or in our case be dug out surely, am I wrong?
  18. Lad Ask around find out who your nearest pack of hounds are. Then call them and they can bring a few hounds follow the scent of him back to cubs and then they will have a terrierman who can dig them out. But for the law just say you have lost a few phesants. Doing this you will get lads who prob know your area anyway and know what there doing with the guidelines of the law and stuff. All the best
