Afraid not Lad duty calls in Galway at the moment. The other half was there alright. I sent 349 e-mails and just over 100 texts telling people though, so hope it went ok. -

Skellyb, I do not try to defend any ill-treatment. I could not agree more with your arguments. You are right. HOWEVER, we said the same about the Ward Union Staghounds, all will be ok when they were put under a license system. Its not, as Minister Gormley has decided not to issue it. He has regular meetings with the Irish Council Against Blood Sports. The hunting people of Ireland agree FULLy with controlling puppy farms, However once you license something, its a lot easier to not issue a license than ban it. This is a back door way of not issueing licenses to hunt clubs. He does not need -

So what's the problem with that, seems like common sense to me? Well if you run a hunt, a none profit making club how do you pay for almost 100 micro-chips. And you need a certain square metreage per bitch, you have to apply to breed off each one and no more than 6 litters in her life time. And you can have dog warden, police or vet in your place any time any day to inspect. No more medicine of any form given without vet, the list goes on................... -

No lads, anyone can sign it the more the better. The language of hunting is international, just like the plane full of us who came to march in London before the ban! Thanks lads -
Lately the Green Party are uping their attack on hunting and the countryside in general, from stopping turf cutting, to attacking gun licenses. Now their main goal is to ban the Ward Union Stag Hounds and to include all hunts in their new puppy farm legislation. This will mean ANYONE with five bitches will be counted as a puppy farm, and will be inspected by vets and must microchip EVERY dog/hound. Please read this below and sign petition. Thank you RISE! Rural Ireland Says Enough! FACE Ireland and the Hunting Association of Ireland have formed RISE! Rural Ireland Says Enough! to c

Is a hunt terrier not just a terrier that the hunt work. Surely that is every type terrier. On a saturday we have a guy from WD who has two black dogs, another with a red and black, and I have a russel and fell/lakeland. My Terriers are kpet in kennels with hounds so they are Hunt Terriers I suppose?

My beagle pup 6months old is she a cross ??
Johnny85 replied to NEWBIE1980's topic in Hunting With Hounds
Looking at her height and length and markings I would say there is a splash of harrier there. -
THis is a tricky one the vet will say keep it fully locked in and just short walks. But, I had my bitch in a small run but big enough to walk around and piss. Remember like us they need to stretch. There leg will be sore so they wont jump much anyway. A bit of activity and movement will keep there other legs from wasting and will strengthen the leg the whole time. Play it by year. Dont change routine that much it will drive them more mad. Good Luck

My lakeland bitch snapped hers two years ago, vet stitched in a fake one. For the op three days in care, two previous vists and all the tabs needed for €200. Last season she tore the other leg. He fixed and she was back digging in 8 weeks only €160. one of the best vets around, greyhound lads come from all over to him. best of luck

This year apart from having a new falconry display, we will also have Old McDonalds Farm Shop from Carlow at the show. This is the official stockists in Ireland for all the DD timber products (John H from this site) and also stocks all the Bellman and Flint range. They also stock all the bull dog shovel range. If you need any form of terrier, lurcher or hound work equipment they will find it, and bring to the show for you. Good Hunting Johnny85 Any questions pm or email to terrierwork@live.ie -
After a busy dig, is your after care up to scratch?
Johnny85 replied to manspade's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I find 9 times out 10 the dogs will clean themselves in the grass once job is done. I walk with dogs all day while out after hounds. So if really bad find nearest stream. Otherwise good wash in dettol when home, good feed and pencillin if really bad. I think as long as dog is clean dry and out of a drought they are half way to recovery already. -
Running on The dusk is down on the river meadows, The moon is climbing above the fir, The lane is crowded with creeping shadows, The gorse is only a distant blur; The last of the light is almost gone, But hark! They're running! They're running on ! The count of the years is steadily growing; The Old give way to the eager Young; Far on the hill is the horn still blowing, Far on the steep are the hounds still strung. Good men follow the good men gone; And hark! They're running! They're running on ! By W Oglivie
