  3. Hi johnny, you are a lucky man to run your hounds on the permission you have got,the farmers with me would not allow us ,if we found 6 foxes they expect them all to be accounted for,the only place we can run the hounds without taking any guns would be up on the mountain and i agree with you its a great day out we have always had 2-3 there. You said that you had some welsh hounds were did you get them from, and why did you phase them out for the old english hounds,i would have though the welsh had more drive with them.We also hold a big show every year for funding but we need to take subs as well
  4. Where abouts in Ireland would love to see them. i am in Kilkenny
  5. Sounds similar. Myself and my Dad have 28 hounds and two litters of young pups this year. we hunt every sat on foot. Do alot of digging bu no guns. we normally have about ten out. but we take no money we run a good show each year which helps fund it. we used to have alot of fell and welsh blood now its nearly all old english or harrier, have good old sport now. good hunting Johnny
  6. Rabbits are for ferrets, lurchers, nets and guns. Not terriers in MY opinion. Not telling anyone what to do with there dogs but mine will only see rabbits either in a stew for dinner or during there summer off odd bit of messing but I'd shoot one that marked a rabbit
  7. Its lazy and stupid. Done back properly you can dig a good earth twive a year. Pure ignorance wrecking everyone elses sport. chances are these people have already given up digging and moved onto a new phase. Another pet heat i have is once dug a deep spot fill t with massive rocks. What happens if you have to dig there again? What part of ireland are you
  8. I have found one actually. She is stunning and she hunts on a horse. To make things better her Dad is big into digging and he minds some dogs for me or gives me some to try. When the foxhounds were cubbing at 5am all through August she would goto bed early to makethe tea and sandwhiches in the morning before I left. She will come digging and stand around cold holding a dog, or hold them after to be washed. Pure gem well that must be an irish 'ting'!!! i used to ride and some of the girls were fit but they didnt understand about diggin even though they liked hunting Tellme a

Contact me if yo
  11. Hi Adam, Johnny here from kilkenny. There lovely pups fair play. Your only problem now is waiting for them to be ready. Do not rush them. In the mean time I am sure you know alot, but I recommend get as much diggin as you can with other lads so you can get experince yourself for your dogs. Read a couple of books or magazines. It all helps I think. Good luck
  12. All you need to do lad is cut most of the timber out of your doors and put in mesh this will take you half hur and cost your few quid for mesh and you will have grand kennels. Fair Play
  13. I dig every saturday for our own foot pack and on a sunday for a mounted pack. I find it hard to find a nice narrow bitch or dog with a bit of leg. Something that has a brain, but I have heard alot about these lines and would love to see some pure dogs in action. I am in Kilkenny where are you? find the nuttels to be the best size for the foxs.the gould terriers that my mates have are a bit big for the narrow places what type do you keep Just have one very big russell dog and have one lakeland bitch I got 3 weeks ago and have had 5 with her so far (3 in one hole sorta cheating
  14. Use a very very mild mix of TACTIC and giv your dogs loads of garlic. Cut cloves into little pieces and shove down theie throat. very very effective

  19. Just wondering if anyone has any bitches or dogs in Ireland with Parks, Nuttall, Gould or Middleton blood in them. Proper blood in them not just talk of blood in them. Would be delighted to hear from you
  20. Are local hunt use them alot of old ones and they have just put in a few new ones using tractor tyres. For more info read Chapter ten of Capt Jocelyn Lucas's book 'Hunt and working Terriers. Very good book with diagram and details how to make
  21. thats alovely pup. what part of the country you in
  22. hav you any pictures of parnets
  23. Put in some soda crystals or some sort of washing powder so when your dog eats poison force this down there neck straight away and they pike up everything inside them. This has saved many hounds for us. Have a warm blanket in car. And at home buy the staplers and a needle and thread and you will be able to fix most things
