    Hemingway - Green Hills of africa is a great account of a safari. I'm also with you on the Hardy. E Waugh's Scoop is as funny a book as i've read and Steinbeck's East of Eden if you like Epic stories/ C McCarthy's Blood Meridian is about as brutal as you'd want to get. A wild west tale as it most likely was.

    not only is it bullshit but to even attempt to run a young pup like that is a sure way to f**k its bones up and the countrymans weekly is suppose to be on the ball this is just the publicity the hunting world need p.s just sent an email to them everyone should. see if they apologies for being twats They are TW*TS for printing that rubbish, It is just my biaised opinion but a 16 week old puppy is just that - a fecking PUPPY.     Both, though I don't like to see a kill at the end of a really long course where the hare is just turning in ever decreasing circles. I love that ground devouring run in; then soil spraying twists and turns of two superbly matched creatures, a site that sets the heart pumping like a wild thing. jmho thats all.

    Great post and great pics. tegan is a credit to you, she has an amazing shape to her for a 1st cross. My collified lurcher is 18months old and he is still very immature at times. Luckily there is no rush. Happy hunting

    JD, obviously who writes it would be pretty important. Totally agree that it would have to be different to what's on offer. But if you take a look through what is out there, I think there is still a gulf in what could be put down. Especially in terms of correcting things when they go wrong. You only have to look at how often there are posts on these forums as to what can be done to resolve things dogs are doing wrong. Also I think there would be a big need for guidance on dealing with injuries and complaints of working dogs. I guess if people want to see certain things in a

    When I first got into lurchers there were very few precious USEFUL books on training and working lurchers. Even now many years later the situation hasn't really changed . There are some excellent books of hunting stories. HOWEVER, if you are new to the lurcher scene then unless you are lucky enough to have someone experienced to guide you there is feck all to point you in the right direction. ESPECIALLY if things start going wrong. I think there is a huge need for a book dedicated to rearing, training and maintaining a working lurcher. With ancedotal stories in it? DO

    Its a bull greyhound lurcher when you get down to 16ths then it aint worth bothering about too much. Unless your grading up pedigree stock.
