  1. Would all the extras be something like this list? - Wide Angle Lens 2X Telephoto Lens UV Digital Filter Digital Flash 8GB SD HC *Extra* Li-ion Battery Professional Camera Bag CF Card Reader 57 INCH Tripod Lens Cleaning Kit Mini Travel Tripod LCD Screen Protector If so, then yes it is too good to be true because basically it's a load of rubbish. The so called wide angle & telephoto lenses will be naff, the battery may well spontaneously combust at any time, the tripod will probably collapse, the flash gun will go pfutt and die, etc etc... The actual Canon kit will be
  2. You must excuse me gnipper - our pet cat has been missing for a fortnight now & he's not in the habit of going out for more than a few hours at a time so we are thinking the worst... I agree that feral cats should be controlled & neutered, but please make sure the cats are truly feral before you kill them... A word of warning about cats and ferrets though - many years ago a friend of my Dad's kept ferrets and when an old lady neighbour had a big old tom cat which was run over she asked him to bury it... Not one to let a bit of ferret food go to waste he slung the supposedly dead
  3. I say dahhhling, does one really have to stand together with these frightfully awful people and their mongrel curs? I'm sure they would frighten my pony I'd sit on the fence next to you, but I'm common as muck really, and you wouldn't want to be seen with me... There are class differences everywhere, why should hunting be any different? There seem to be more "snobs" on here than in the hunting field though... a weird kind of inverted snobbery that implies that you are worthless if you don't have a rabid bull cross and absolutely no regard for other people's property, the law, or even
  4. Pretty skies, similar cloud formations too. Often get nice sunsets when there's a change in the weather, like on the edge of a storm front or something.
  5. Yes, the 1000D is a good camera for someone just getting into photography, quite good specs but maybe not quite so robust as the more expensive models. Go for the best lenses you can afford though as they will hold their value should you ever want to sell them. However, expect to lose loads of money on the camera body when you upgrade One thing to remember is that the EF-S (digital) lenses will not work on the full-frame camera like the 5D. They will fit on it but when you fire the shutter there will be a very nasty clattering noise as all the bits inside the camera explode So if y
  6. Well that is bloody revolting... Holding up a dead cat and grinning like the idiot you are makes you look like a really big man, doesn't it? Gosh, I wish I was that hard so I could kill kittens and smirk about it too...
  7. Maybe something like this? - Camera Nice bit of kit for someone who is serious about photography as a hobby, has more features than either of the cameras you mention, and plenty good enough for full page pics in magazines. Be wary of secondhand DSLRs. You can pick up a bargain if you're lucky, but it's always going to be out of date next week. If your wife is really into landscapes then a 5D would be the tool for the job, but it's not the easiest camera to get good results from. The full frame sensor is nice to have, but I could live without it, and it's not the fastest camera in
  8. Leanne - this is a rather worrying tale... It seems that Bailey has given you quite a lot of grief already, and you have been advised to move him on to someone who has the knowledge to train him and turn him into a good dog. I can't help agreeing with that... I think it would be best for all of you, rather than risk his behaviour deteriorating further. But if you insist on persevering with him - and at the end of the day he's your dog and you are obviously fond of him - then you really have to get on top of these problems now. At 5 months he is starting to feel his feet, and in about ano
  9. Nice shots of those beautiful dogs. I'd love to see the original unmolested images, but only because I'm not keen on "arty" effects and frames etc... Just a personal thing, most people love it!
  10. Chop a third off the bottom of the pic and you'll be getting there...
  11. Please would someone throw George Clooney in? It's hotting up nicely down here but gets a bit lonely sometimes...
  12. I hope the kids do well with their Bobbies Look like a nice pair of ponies, I hope they will be nice to their little riders!
  13. yes it is mate, also shows a racoon being skinned alive, quite harrowing No excuse for that.... People who do this believe that the skin comes off cleaner and easier if the animal still has blood coursing through its veins... I've seen the most horrendous videos from the far east and I have nothing but respect for the people that make them. I know I couldn't bear it... The film "Earthlings" is indeed harrowing, but maybe it should be seen by minors? Maybe they should be aware of what their species is capable of... Films like Earthlings make me ashamed to be human.
  14. That wolf hybrid is scarey! All excellent pics, but the starling shot is amazing.
  15. Avast is one of the better free ones.
  16. Good sequence of shots Kay, grumpy old birds round your way, aren't they?
  17. Hope the filly is found and returned to her owner... Digzy - are they your pics on the webshots site? I like the look of "Charisma"
  18. but surely the anti's argue that shooting is preferential to actually hunting foxes as a matter of control? For now Y.I.S Leeview Yes, but I think seeing graphic images of shot foxes will inspire them to go for a ban on shooting as well as, not instead of, the hunting with dogs ban... Don't you think thats part of the antis end game anyway? Followed by ferreting, hawking, legal lurcher and terrier work and fishing and anything else which involves countrymen so much as setting foot in a field! Yes, so wouldn't it be a good idea to keep things low-profile? Why not foc
