  1. Welcome back So, where'd you go? Who'd you see? What'd you do? Nosey, aren't we?
  2. Git... That's horrible... In a good way photographically speaking
  3. Advice for young newly married girls When he gets randy say "sorry sweetheart, I'm just too tired after doing all the housework"
  4. The camera is quite easy to use. Although it's got lots of knobs and buttons to fiddle with, if you just set it on auto or one of the preset modes, it'll more or less do the job for you. However, you will get much more from it if you take the time to look through the manual and learn how the camera functions and what effects the different settings, like ISO, aperture, and shutter speed, will have on your pics. Plus it'll have featured like continuous focussing and shutter, which you'll need to know how to set. With Dslrs a lot depends on the lens, and you'll probably find you need t
  5. Can't help you with the moth id I'm afraid, but those piglets are soooooooooooo cute Bacon sandwich anyone?
  6. Nice peregrine Nice lens too I wonder how close that'll focus? Probably about 50 feet!
  7. Most dvd players should be able to read jpeg files. What software did you use to burn the disc? Quite a lot of them, including Roxio, can make quite good slideshows if you want to set the pics to music or make something a bit snazzier with captions etc.. I think windows has a basic one too
  8. Sorry, I do hope your young lady is better soon! Meanwhile, shouldn't you be doing the ironing? Don't worry, you'll soon get the hang of household chores, I mean it's soooooo easy, even wimmin can do it...
  9. well i thought my luck was in , what better way to spend a sunny Sunday morning than watching 22 young men in shorts By half time they were looking like men twice there age after a hard night on the beer , still it made a change from seagulls Ahhhh... so that's Staffordshire's finest them... Still never mind, some very good looking deer to watch where you live!
  10. Too right... Mafia Wars is the cool game to play. Watch out for the dogpound mafias though... My mutt has 533 in her mafia, and she doesn't take prisoners
  11. Nice wildlife pics well... not sure about the footballing wildlife... they look a bit dodgy to me...
  12. Get a Canon 1DS mk3, a 16-35L Lens, a 70-200 f2.8L is lens, & a 100-400L lens, then when you get fed up with photography I'll take the lot off your hands for £2000... sorted! But seriously, the D100 is old technology, and a bit on the slow side. The D200 isn't a bad camera if you trip over a S/H one at a reasonable price. The D90 is ok too. Lenses - I'd stick with Nikon if you can afford it, and look at some in the 70-300 range. VR isn't totally necessary if all you want to do is action shots because you'll be using a fast speed anyway, but it's handy in other situations. You'
  13. so you're gonna get the D300?!!! I use a Canon 40D for most of my action shots. Depends how much you want to get out of your photography really... Most DSLRs costing less than half the price of the D300 will do the job, but may not be quite so durable or sturdily built. Don't forget the cost of lenses too... Think if I was considering a Nikon ( ) I'd be looking at a D700... my old man's got one, and even though I'm a Canon fan, I can't fault the bloody thing...
  14. Fascinating... I'll have a read of Charlotte's book. I can vaguely remember my Dad talking about Frederick Rolfe, not in a particularly complimentary way either! His family lived in the Bungay area at the time. Thanks for the info Rolfe
  15. I haven't read the link yet, but I don't need to to know how I feel about supermarkets... I hate fu**ing Tesco! And a lot of the others aren't much better. They've been shitting on the farmers and suppliers for years, making the producers suffer the cost of "BOGOF"s and cut price offers, and making them pay an initial sum just to get a contract with the supermarket... Then they buy cheap crap from abroad and stuff it down a gullible population who think "every little helps"... oooh and you can get everything there now, even bloody car insurance! They've got no morals, no scruples, they don
  16. Bit too much cloud here, but hopefully it should be clear tomorrow evening
  17. Thank you. Glad I was able to help, and you got an excellent moon shot!
  18. Good shots Kay Technically the gull shots are better than the squirrel, probably because of the lighting conditions.
  19. You lot are disgusting! Poor girl... What worries me is how is she going to get upright again????
  20. Very good pics, but most admit to not actually liking the spider one very much!!!! A bit too scary!
  21. Just as well some ladies like hunting too... A professor at a medical college was giving a lecture on 'Involuntary Muscular Contractions' to his first year medical students. Realising this was not the most riveting subject, the Professor decided to lighten the mood slightly. He pointed to a young woman in the front row and said, 'Do you know what your a**hole is doing while you're Having an orgasm?' She replied, 'Probably out hunting with his buddies.'
  22. I'm not familiar with the elements program, but if it does have a history brush then that is one way of doing it. Desturate the whole image, using whatever method you prefer, then simply use the history brush to bring back the colour in the choosen areas. Another method is to create a copy layer, paste it on the image, desaturate the layer, then use the eraser to remove areas of the black and white layer so that the colour shows through. Alternatively, select the areas that you want left in colour using the free selection tool, then invert the selection and desaturate the rest of the
  23. Playing is the best way to learn Photoshop - just try it and see, much better than getting bogged down with textbooks and tutorials I must admit that I use auto focus most of the time, and I rarely change the focus point from the centre one, preferring to focus the subject, then move the camera rather than faff around with focus points! But then I'm a lazy baggage... The focus on the hound is spot on - sharp subject and blurred in front and behind - just what you want You can acheive this by using a wide aperture (small f number) as that will reduce the depth of field (or focus) and
  24. Not totally familiar with the cameras you have, but yes, you should be able to change the AF mode from One Shot to Al focus or servo mode. Servo will focus continually as you track the subject. Having the drive mode set to burst or "rapid fire" will use up your memory card a bit quick, but will mean you're less likely to miss the shot
  25. Good shots, nice looking hounds. I prefer straight B&W or colour, but that's just a personal preference, & selective colour seems to be incredibly popular, specially if its nicely done, as in your pic! I'm still hoping for some misty morning cubbing pics, but we haven't had a nice morning yet
