  1. No, because you'd cry if you saw the image quality from a 5D and a nice lump of L glass Start saving, boy... Oh, btw, it's not just the exposure settings that make a difference, but the amount of haze in the air, the time of year, the height of the moon, the tripod used (or not), the ambient light... so many factors to consider.
  2. I love the sixth shot (the frozen landscape) It's very beautiful in a bleak sort of way... The swan shots are lovely too - can't decide whether I like the swan in focus and the twigs blurred, or the other way round! Just as well you took two shots
  3. Nice shot for next year's Xmas card You need to get the lens as close as possible to the window glass to cut out reflections.
  4. No flash, use manual focus set at something about the same distance as the fireworks. Set the aperture to f11, iso 100, and experiment with shutter speeds ranging from 1 second to 30 seconds for a really long burst of fireworks. Obviously with speeds this slow you'll need to use a tripod or place the camera on a really solid support. If you're using a long exposure adjust the aperture (f number) up to f16/ f22.
  5. Lol , there a strong hint of experience in that comment , scary well now, i was reading the first lines thinking yes the real macoy is.....hmmm by the time the finger was in de butt lmao........... crude facter 10 lmao yet retained some style lolol, besides? what rong with a finger in some one elses bum? hehehehe Well, I was thinking the original untouched photo is better because it has more character than the horrible plastic look of the smoothed over one. Just a pity the camera caught her in mid-blink... Then I read some of the comments from the men on here(and I
  6. I once had a couple of Sigma lenses and found them to be horribly prone to lens flare, so I'd recommend using a lens hood with them. Dunno about Tamron, but I haven't often noticed a problem with Canon lenses. Kay, I'd suggest using a UV filter to protect the front element of your lens, and use the hood when it is a bright day. You shouldn't notice any vignetting if you are using the hood that was supplied with the lens. Vignetting is usually only a problem with wide lenses if you put several filters on the front.
  7. A macro lens would make a world of difference... However it does need to be a true macro, like the Canon 100mm macro - the zoom lenses with "macro" capability won't focus close enough.
  8. Nice pics for a phone cam, but not exactly macro... Kay's coin pic... now that's really close up! The little point and shoot cameras often have an excellent macro setting, it's one of their best features
  9. Good shots Something you so rarely see when you have a camera with you!
  10. Nice bit of zoom blur on the first shot... Go for the Canon 75-300 if it's still on offer, and read your camera manual... 1/100 sec is nowhere near fast enough for a running dog unless you are using a technique called "panning", when you follow the movement with the camera. This can be very effective if you're sideways on to the shot, but you do need to keep the camera level and the movement very smooth.
  11. Keep having fun Kay I like the teasel & the moss shots.
  12. and here You should be able to get the pics off the camera by simply plugging it in and copying them to your hard drive, although you may have to change the camera settings. It depends on the model of your camera & how new it is, but I've a feeling Adobe are no longer doing RAW upgrades for CS3. Might be time to get a new DVD drive and load the Canon software. Meanwhile shoot jpegs, far less faffing around!
  13. Nice shots Kay, I love to see them running to take off
  14. Awww I'm sure you don't mean that He's lovely.
  15. Yes Well, any digital camera... It'll handle just about all picture file types, although it may not work with RAW files if your camera is the very very latest model. But you'll have the camera software to convert them anyway.
  16. Nice to see the Lapwing, don't get many round here now.
  17. Nice shots Kay. Getting a bit artistic now I like the last one, but you've really got to get Photoshop - I reckon you could do wonders with it
