  1. Bad new pal! I have had some shit in different circumstance over the years expecially when the wife left the back window open and the Patterdales got out and Mullered my Finnish male Gos in the weathering, it took me a good while to get over it as I'm sure it will you but you always brush yourself down and get another one ..... Jasper
  2. Cracking post Jack!! I got stuck into this one, its better than some of the Hunting stories I used to read in Airgun world many moons ago, by the sounds of it it all payed off ..... The Pigeons here are a little easier due to the amount of cover and Rhodies I can hide in, all the actions starts around 2.30 - 3.00pm when they come in to eat the Ivy berries, plus they have just dropped the cover crop on the edge of the wood that brings them in, the only problem I have is trying to get a good clear shot, the amount of time I look through the scope only to see twigs blocking a good clean path
  3. Nice one pal ! the lads on here think I'm shooting out to 40 yds mate. Them pigeons was shot freehand at 500 Yds plus Ian . Heard from M the other evening and he told me you're not taking many prisoners with that HMR of yours.......... Jasp Yep you'r pal is righ mate!! its a fair lump to cart about, it weighs around 10LB'ish with the 30mm scope fitted and feels pretty heavy shooting freehand, the gun itself shoots where you aim it!! from a rest it will group very tight at around 35 - 40yds, then again I think most pre-charge will. shooting up into the canopy at scquirrels and
  4. Good shooting pal , Bunnies are a bit thin on the ground around here at the mo! the underkeeper keeps clearing them up with his HMR, he needs to be a bit more considerate to me I recon ...... Jasp
  5. Nice one Ferretville I'm shooting a .177 mate. I tried the Daystate Select pellet and you're right they do the business but what gets me is I end up paying the same price for 400 as I would for say 500 Bisely Mags, I then tried to find a cheaper alternative. I have tried AA's and JSB's and don't get me wrong they was a nice pellet but a few flyers put me off, the Bisley Mags steadied the ship but a little bit heavy for my liking although they do hit the Mark where I'm zeroed. Defiant is another Pellet you just mentioned I like the sound of but the one's I was looking at was around 7.9
  6. Good luck with the site . I'm sure it will attract plenty of punters when the new flying season kicks in..... Jasper
  7. It shocked me to be Honest Jack! he decided to hang upside down for a second or two before doing a Olympic Dive to the floor, the Pellet hit him just to one side of his chin and exited the top back of his head... I have hit them in the past at some distance with these FTT and the pellet has gone through the rib cage and stopped under the skin on the oposite side, I like the pellets but fancy like trying a few others out in the near future ....... cheers Jasper
  8. Nice one Shay just seen the link on another post , sounds like a handy shop to have near by, I have Uttings which is the closest but they're mail order only, the only other shop is a little Gunsmiths and he hasn't got much to chose from Pellet wise, I'll bell this shop on Monday..... atb Jasper
  9. Thought I would take a Mooch over to the Rhodendrums later this afternoon for a break. it was a cracking spot with Trees all around covered in Ivy with a nice clearing in the middle of the Rhodies, it wasn't long before the first Pigeon came in but was masked by plenty of twigs!! Minutes later a good flock dropped in all around me, one infront of presented a cracking pictures through the scope and was hit under the wing and dropped, Unfortunatley this scared all the others.... through out the couple of hours I was there a good few kept coming in and I ended up with four!! if I took the sho
  10. Anyone use them in .177? they read well but sound a bit light to me a 7.9 Grains! then again if they shoot well and people recommend them I'll give them a try..... cheers Jasper
  11. Heard you recently had some Good sport with HMR mate!! Top Bombing pal....

  12. Spot on Crooky!! good shooting Pal , I have a HW77K in .22 here which must be at least 25 years old but still shoots like it was new and accurate as fook ..... Jasp
  13. Its been blowing a Hooligan here too Bill. by all accounts its going to get alot worse before it gets better ..... cheers Jasp
  14. Using a box of matches I know has worked but I'll be surprised if you would bring in a seasoned Magpie by shaking a few pellets in a plastic bottle ..... A pal used to sit his Redtail Hawk out on its Bow perch with a dead Rabbit to keep it occupied, retreat back to his hide and you watch this bring them in, not only Magpies all sorts of Corvids can't resist coming in dive bombing and landing in the trees squarking their unrest when a Hawks in the area ........
  15. Nearly fell of my chair watching this .... all the Magpies in his area must Rattle because they're full of Pellets if they sound like this.....
  16. Top man Shay!! cheers for taking time out and filling me in Pal . I'll bell him later and fire over the info to him and see what he says, I must admit I thought it was funny when he originaly ordered a Carbine and a few days later they rang him and advised him to get a full length version as the carbine wouldn't shoot so well in .177, not very good sales pitch I must admit!! and if it is the case why ever do they still advertise them in .177.... Anyway pal cheers again for the help... atb Jasp
  17. You're lucky you have a divers bottle to bring you round Bill.... I used to have one of them styrup Pumps! I only used it once and was rushed to casualty! spent the next 3 weeks in traction recovering..... Jasp
  18. Hiya Jasper. Thank's mate, and congrats on your Pigeon Buddy. You proberbly got more today than I will get tomorrow Still, its just nice to be out there isnt it, a feed is a bonus Bill I doubt it mate I reckon you'll have a good one!! I can feel it in me bones mate .... what gets me is somtimes I get out and hit near on where I point the gun, days like today everytime I mount the gun I can see my bloody heart beat movment in the scope! I'm such a old git these days that by the time I have walked through the woods I can hardly hold the gun straight, I have to
  19. Lovely set of guns Shay . the lad looks like he's going to be a class Hunter in the making.... A pal has just ordered a .177 Evolution from Theoben! he's picking it up in around 10 days time, he originaly wanted the Carbine version but they advised him if he was going for a .177 to go for the full length version.... You obviously rate them mate as you have two of them! Is there anything he needs to watch out for when he picks it up? He done plenty of reading up on different guns and the Evo seemed to win hands down..... cheers Jasp
  20. Good Luck Pal Hope you get plenty of sport Bill!! its been foggy damp and crap here today with only one Pigeon earlier today, thought I would get some more but they didn't want to play ball ..... cheers Jasper
  21. Yes mate had a few that wanted them and a good few that fly them and pull off over their backs! most females will tackle them when in Condition but it takes a good experinced Gos to hold them regular. I don't go out expecially to fly Hares and have in the past held Inexperienced birds back from them, I have to admit most Gos's I fly these days never get to a stage of total fittness due to other comitments... A lad I know in the picture had a female that took then Regular and fly them until their was only one outcome in her favour....
  22. Makes alot of sense to bed a gun in to different pellets. the other thing that confuses me slightly when I look at the .177 pellets is some are 4.52, some are 4.53 and so on? Back in the good old days everything said 4.5 on the tin and we all shot Eley Wasps Jasp
  23. I have a few scottish mates who would love one , let us know where you can get them from as I might also get one myself .........
  24. Sorry to hear that pal!! you must be pretty pissed off as I know I would be. sounds like the Valve isn't shutting off when you bleed the gun, its a piss take when you have had two in a matter of a week do the same.... I'm sure you get 28 days grace from the shop if its not up to standard to get your money refunded, if not it looks like a long wait for another R10 to get delivered to the shop.... there a lad just advertised a Air Ranger on here only a few months old for £650, if you get refunded it might be work taking a look as Daystates 3 year warrantly is also transferable......
  25. Cheers lads for the replies . To be honest I have been winging like hell lately about this Air Ranger from its grouping to its overall weight scoped, Its a fair Lump to be holding freehand while Hunting tree rats and I must admit today while taking a stroll I was all over the place!! one of them days I suppose.... Don't get me wrong I love the scope and rifle combination but with a bit more Practice and a good few thousand Pellets things hopefully should come together in reading Ranges, Windage, and the amount of Holdover through a range of targets at different angles... Just thought I
