  1. could well be a confidence thing! if he was pushed up too soon before he was confident with you and the fist this will cause a bird to cut you over. you could look back at the weight and distance he was when he wasn't cutting you over or spend more time giving him some fairly short recalls where the birds trouble free and comfortable with.... there's a few reasons why the bird could be doing this! its a hard one without seeing or handling the bird.....

  8. Harris's breeding in numbers in this country would decimate the the place and probably drive out alot of our indegnouse species like the Buzzard. I can just see a family of Harris's making their way around some Game pens, could also see them returning regular to this resturant for further pickings....
  9. I have to say the reason I like .177 is because as a Lad I was lucky enough to own a Gat Pistol! yes a genuine a Gat pistol . now I know there was not many lucky enough to handle such a gun in their youngser days but all I can say is the gun totaly transformed me to .177 calibre... the accuracy was outstanding and fire power of the sort that couldn't be matched, I remember shooting a snail off my mothers rockery at a good 10 large paces! there was a loud CRACK!! as the pellet struck home penetrating the shell and killing the creature instantly, the tissue damage was enormouse.... I ha

I'm enviouse of you guys being able to watch the wild Peregrines! we don't see them in this area very often unless just passing through... a couple of Pals took some nice Parent Reared Tiercels from here a couple of weeks back, the pair of them should make them into good hawks so I'm looking forward to getting out with them and seeing how they turn out, Chris S rang the other evening to let me know his is coming on a treat, I'll hopefully be able to get some pictures up soon of their progress...

  17. I know the feeling pal! my two fight like cat and dog, I ended up with a Pigeon pair. Its like WWIII everyday in this house through the school holidays. what makes me laugh is since my 14 years old lad has found out what girls are about he spends more time in the bathroom than the Daughter does, He must put a tube of Gell on his hair every visit .... He doesn't take after his old man. I didn't need all that junk to pull! they was all trying to get into my big white Y Fronts Jasper

  19. what a cracking statement to a monarch to to be gifted 2 wild manx Peregrines . there's a fair chance the same blood lines have nested around the isle of man for many many years useing the same old eyrie's, it must be a wonderful sight to see the youngsters playing in the sky honing their hunting techniques... we don't realy see any in this part of the country, I have seen the odd one pass through over the years but very seldom.... Jasper
  20. BSA Mercury's have two adjustments for the trigger pull and one for the Sear, I can't remember which way round it is but if you look at the front of the trigger guard assembly you'll see a small allen screw and also one at the back, if the sear adjustment is tightend in too much this will be the cause of your problem... the best thing you and do is Number one make sure its not cocked or like another poster said "Someone will get hurt", take the gun out of the stock undoing the two frony stock screws and the large one that runs through the bottom of stock at the grip, if you can take a pict
  21. Nice one sean . I have to say many times I blame the gun when I have missed some sitters, but deep down I'm sure its me although I find it hard to beleive I ever miss .... 23. Saw these two after the hazel nuts earlier today! these critters doing untold damage to the trees in the area! also robbing all the fruit off them. all I can say is I must be more patient with old age . it seemed like a aternity before the other one showed his face when the first was downed! they need culling in the area due to their numbers and damage they cause, there is hundreds of the bloody things running havoc... Both was shot from a crouching position. The first one presented himself perfect hanging out over a branch and was dispatched cleanly, the other seemed to take forever to sh
  24. Its a hard one pal! for a good few years people raved about the scottish peregrines being the biggest, this could well of been the case with the odd Indivdual birds but a majority captive bred birds from these lines wasn't always making the dizzy weights as portrayed, from a personal point of view some of the Captive bred birds originating from Welsh blood lines are the biggest I have seen so far... Having said that there is nothing stopping Scottish Peregrines pairing up on a welsh cliff or vice versa, Peregrines by nature tend to wander about a fair bit and could pair up anywhere expecia
