  1. Here is a thread from me a while back asking about January Jack, may be of use to you? http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...mp;hl=spookster
  2. Thanks for the nice comments. why I don't work him? I grew up in Toronto and had never even heard of a lurcher. I loved sighthounds and always wanted a saluki When I moved to scotland i got a saluki/greyhound pup off of travellers. She was ill and died at 18mths. I then had a couple of full salukis and then back to saluki lurcher and then a deerhound lurcher. All my dogs have been rescued and this dog is the first I ever bought. i wanted to choose my dog this time, one that would be easy without any issues and that he has been. I love running dogs I think they make great companions and en
  3. that I bought off of someone on this forum I was impressed with my action shot as it is a crap camera and it was dark and wet out a couple of clearer picture he's a great dog much smaller then I'm use to. I didn't buy him for working but if he does catch anything when he's older you will be the first to know
  4. Thats good news and I think fair for both. I understand how annoying this can be for the farmer but as SS said the owner of the dog thought he would be safe where she let him off, the sheep were some distance away. I use to be pestered by sheep cow and pig where I live all the time.My new lawn ruined by cows and pigs, i never received any compenstion. I use to find sheep dead on the beach, turned over on their back, stuck, in the woods. The farmer wasn't bothered and it took years of complaining to get him to mend his bloody fences. I was lucky my dogs didn't chase the sheep but it was
  5. that's correct, definately not the same dogs
  6. What do you think these two dogs are. It is not a trick question, just something done for educational purposes. They are not necessarily the same breed. Any thoughts on how you come to your conclusions welcome too, or general comments about either dog if you wish! Thanks Dog 1 Dog 2
  7. Good luck I hope it works out for you and the dogs
  8. Can you try and organise a transport run?
  9. I don't work my dog but i am going to give my opinion I took on a mainly saluki a few years ago. He was about 18mths and totally messed up. he was terrifeid of the dark and even more terrified of a big spot light coming at him. It took me a long time to get this dog to walk in the dark and not panic if there was a spot light in the dark. I don't know what happened to this poor dog but someone really messed him up lamping I would also like to say that i agree with everyone else he is too young let him be a pup! I have had quite a few lurcher in my time some older rescues and some from
  10. I think you need to give her time and bond with her. She has been wild for a long time so take it easy, get to know her and do a lot of reading about slaukis I have a saluki that isn't interested in toys or food. I like you thought how the hell am I going to train him, he was about 18mths when I got him. He was scared to of food so food definately wasn't the way to this dog. I didn't strees over it and we got to know each other. He has been off lead form the begining and his recall is pretty good now even when there are deer around. Give the dog time. Remembe salukis are nothing like labs
  11. Really nice dog, I had a red black fringed saluki., stunning colour Your dog look in great conditon
  12. thanks for the laugh I think this is a great post,
  13. I would get legal advice, wasn't there a case years ago where two standard poodles got out during the night. Came home in the moring but that night some sheep were injured and the dogs were taken off of the people? I can't remember the full story, memory not as good as it was I would have thought they would need proof but after reeding the case about the Poodles sounds like what the farmer says goes if it were me i would have offered compensation too hoping that would be the end of it. I hope this is sorted soon and your friends dog is ok!
  14. Nice pups I know someone looking for a pup of this breeding already has a 10yr old bitch of the same breeding We live in scotlant, will see if he will travel
  15. thanks for the pup, he's perfect! Take it easy, hope all goes well over the next year for you and your family some pics of the pup for you to see before you go thanks again
  16. I agree with this socialisation is so important. I got a deerhound x and he spent the first 6mths in a shed never been out at all. poor dog had a lot of insecurities, wish poeple would take time if they plan a litter and do the best by them. I bought a pup from Hpool hunter when he was 9 weeks. He was out the front of the house playing with his litter mate and kids when I collected him. He is bomb proof the easiest pup I have ever hat yes spookster but thats because my daughter always tried to rip his head off , the amount of times we had to rush over because she was trying to pic him
