  1. Ha! I can't imagine he could train any dog with that voice, I would think he would have to carry an entire chicken with him to get the dog back!
  2. I still can't believed I listened to him..his voice made me want to slit my wrist.

We are no not actually living in the wild ,,, and treat trainers use electric collars .

  6. Why can't you walk dogs in the dark? I work full time and walk the dogs for a couple of hours when I get home, and a shorter walk before. Not sure what the problem is with the dark?
  7. How are you getting on with the dog? I hope things are going better for both of you?
  8. Not a sniff Charlie boy when someone presumes to put words in my mouth I "presumed to put words into your mouth" ???? you said to try the method not sure if it would work...did you not? it is a crap method for training dogs and you advised the guy to try it...I did not put those words into your mouth..Breaking dogs is not a method I would use so would therefore not put such such words into any ones mouth!
  9. I am confused, why would any living animal..humans included, be happy to be "broken"I see you haven't explained the methods you use to "break a dog". Maybe best you keep it to yourself don't be a tit mate some gundog trainers used to use their methods to break exceptionally stuborn dogs with great results me on the otherhand I don't need to, I'm pretty good when it comes to training dogs I am the tit? Cause I don't need to "break dogs" I have seen some clips of gundog trainers..abuse it is and I wouldn't give them a hamster to take care of.... I am afraid I am thinking the person who th

  12. no, don't it would be one unhappy dog.breaking her says it all. thinking PTS would be preferable to "breaking her" ..............
  13. People have to take some responsibility and not just blame the dog I feel sorry for the dog, lead walked and left in pen. I have 8 rescue dogs, no downward spiral for them. The have a great life. I had to start all over on recall with some, as they were worried to come back due to adverse training, ie physical punishment or e collars. If he cares for the dog and he seems to then he has to find somewhere for the dog that people are able to work with her. I have a saluki here who came to me at a year old. Her recall was terrible and she wouldn't come back, because of the reasons I mentio
  14. I think if you are just lead walking her and leaving her in kennel you must find her another home. There is no point in you keeping the dog who will not be happy and will not improve.
  15. and meant to say she was fed a lot of small meals over the day instead of two larger meals
  16. My salukis also had Inflammatory Bowel Disease. I know a lot of people help these foods but I am sure it saved her life. She was on Royal Canin Sensitivity control. http://about.royalcanin.co.uk/catalogue/canine-veterinary-diet/sensitivity-control-sc-2123727/ How is the dog doing?
  17. Yes she dropped a lot of weight. I am not surprised his dog is a saluki. Autoimmune diseases are a problem in salukis from what I have seen. I recommend your friend asks for a referral to an internal medicine vet as this conditions needs careful management and general vets do not have enough experience with these conditions. I take it the vet made this diagnosis through join taps?
  18. I had a Saluki with Immune mediated polyarthritis. She doesn't need to be put down but does require careful monitoring. My dog also required another drug called Azothioprine. Normally you start the drugs at a high level and very very slowly wean them off, hoping the dogs immune system works normally and stops attacking the dogs own body. Dogs do go into remission but it can flare up again. Sorry to hear this, autoimmune conditions seem to becoming more common in dogs. I think it is down to breeding, in breeding, line breeding. People really do need to look at what they are breeding as so m
  19. To answer the question. Poo sample tested, think need three neg results to confirm not lung worm
  20. Here is text book discription of Rickets "Rickets is a softening of bones in immature mammals due to deficiency or impaired metabolism of vitamin D,[1] phosphorus or calcium,[2] potentially leading to fractures and deformity. Rickets is among the most frequent childhood diseases in many developing countries. The predominant cause is avitamin D deficiency, but lack of adequate calcium in the diet may also lead to rickets (cases of severe diarrhea and vomiting may be the cause of the deficiency). Although it can occur in adults, the majority of cases occur in children suffering from severe malnu
  21. I have just read this thread from start to finish. I just want to say that all the dogs in this thread are a credit to all of you. I have enjoyed this thread more then any on here. I have a lot of salukis and saluki x's, my dogs are all rescues, dogs that have been mistreated, harshly handled, fed crap and neglected. I wish everyone who bought a coursing dog (or any dog in fact) took such pride in them as all of you do. The dogs always look fit and happy and great to see them progressing in life!
  22. I wonder the same. Why do saluki discussions bring the worse out in people?
  23. I am amazed that people think the only way to train is dog is by giving it a "bollocking"
  24. They do deliver if that would save some petrol?
