  1. i dont race my lurchers as i get enough thrill racing the greys ... however if i was to run a simulated coursing or racing event i would make it a rule that any dog that started niggling another would be disqualified ... i find it a very bad trait in running dogs that turn their head ... these dogs obviously cant be run with other dogs if they are fighting over a lure what would they do over live game ... i can happily take my dogs and run them alongside any other dog on any quarry in the full knowledge that their sole focus is on the game and not on spoiling for a fight ............
  2. it would depend on your target species IE are you going to be doing more rabbit hunting or more coyote hunting .... to specifie a ''type'' of lurcher that dog can only excel at one job and be sufficiant at the others so whatever YOU decide to hunt will dictate what type of cross should be used ........
  3. dogs and wolves in the wild will eat soil and small stones to help break down certain foods in their gut ... it could well be what your neighboure is feeding the dog on thats causing the problem .......
  4. for god sakes dont get lloyd back writing in magazines look what it did to him last time ..........
  5. you need to feed a good meat diet and add offal as this will boost her vit B12 which she will need as a lot of bitches get slightly anemic after a litter of pups ...........
  6. look for firms that employ abroad massive money to be earned in iraq at the moment ........
  7. the sighthound is there to provide the speed and not a lot else really ... the other cross will depend on what quarry you are going to hunt the dog on ... for example if you needed a dog with plenty of sagacity intelligence patience for a daytime rabbiting dog then you would use collie in the mix .... pre ban if you needed a dog to takle game that bites back then you would add bull blood to the mix similarly a dog needed for hares would have an injection of saluki added for the stamina .... you then have the composite mixes of lurcher to lurcher because both parents are good workers .... at so
  8. same thing happened to mine and it overheated and melted my hard drive ... i lost everything ... get down to pc world and get one of them air can dusters ... i give mine a good blast once a week and it stays spotless now ...........

  11. or just run the fooker...... yep but then we would need to go into the feeding regime to gain the best out of the dog for the chosen task ...IE ... long runs ... short bursts ... a mixture of both ... fast recovery ... muscle depletion ... lactic build up ... all these scenarios can be bettered with correct feeding ... but that is a whole other thread LOL ........... i do think you know what your talking about socks...regarding feeding anyway... ..a serious question though...do you use vitamins supplements....i think i got my dogs diet spot on now....but iam all ears for more inf
  12. Hey doctor! If I can't get a dog fit without any of those words in my regime(except fit) after 30 odd years of hunting I may as well retire and hang my dogs up to dry. I agree there is a "sports scientist" approach to all hunting animals available now but I'm sure the majority will agree that the best dogs are owned and WORKED by the most experienced and traditional type of fieldsportsmen with lines named after their stock and years of EXPERIENCE under their belt. As far as all the "techno jargon" stuff in your post, it would have more credibility if the spelling was correct. Sorry to soun

  14. stamina ... lamp fit ... cardio fit ... muscle tone ... lactic acid prevension ... fast twitch muscle fibres ... slow twitch muscle fibres .... recovery time .... all these areas require a different aproach in the technique used to utilise them to their maximam and to get the best out of your dog for the job it is used for means having to tailor your training regime to encorporate what you need to get the end result ..........
  15. lets hope your not such a big headed prick if you win this year hey mate..........and youve guessed it i'll not be entering this year either...... after all the crap and b*llshit the man took over the last comp he deserved to crow from the highest tree ..... fcuk me it has started already ...............

  19. the dam is a bull grey / collie grey and the sire was my racing greyhound there is a tiny bit of deerhound way back ... i cannot believe these pups are still there ... if anybody whent to see them in the flesh they would take one as they are fantastically strong pups in top nick ... these pups will be running machines and will make decent workers ...... i had my pup out a few nights ago and tegan caught a rabbit fetched it back and put it at my feet without any hesitiation the pup ran between my legs and grabbed it by the head ... the rabbit squealed and kicked and the pup bit down harder
