At that level its not about the future its about the here and now......competitors compete and breeders breed.
  2. Summer love in ......i remember as a 16 year old when a load of Millwall fans were coming back from a game against Palace and ran into a bunch of West Ham on the train at New Cross station.....a Millwall fan called Ian Pratt was thrown under a train and killed and for years the terrace chant was " West Ham boys,we got brains......we throw Millwall under trains "..........and " 1 nil to the cockney boys Pratt "...........the next time we played they was leaving cards around the streets near Upton Park for the week before the game saying " 1 West ham fan MUST die "!.......which eventually led
  3. Dont that tell you everything about the difference in rivalries round the country..............i have absolutely no doubt in saying the Met would not even consider trusting West Ham/Millwall with a small police presence .....or a few other derbies round the country either.....and cold hearted as it sounds the idea of raising money for the families of dead Millwall/West Ham fans would be completely inconceivable our mobs would probably be making up terrace chants about them....sick as that is ! Thats the difference between playing your rivals twice per season every season..... and playing

Lemms keep was great in its day but would be seen as old hat by top conditioners with access to everything that top conditioners have access to today.
  5. Alright for you posh folk living in houses we never had a step to scrub i remember my ol mum scrubbing the whole flight of stairs then handing over to the family underneath to do the next flight then they would hand over to the family underneath and so on..................................until we moved to the posh flats that had a lift that is !
  6. Millwall will get the shit kicked out of them !
  7. The first thing most trainers will look for in a young prospect is their mental ability not physical........a trainer will be subtly looking at a kids personality and any halfway decent trainer will be able to tell if a kid doesnt have the insides for it. Mental strength is what you walk IN the gym with, physical strength is what you walk OUT the gym with
  8. Didnt think it sounded right a lad should be looking forward to fighting not fearing it......sounds like you have a good relationship and he obviously knows he can tell you things so being a fit strong young boy its just a case of trying out different sports until he finds one that fits.....best of luck

I think you are being a little bit mischievous here Mr Yokel......if you told me a good big man beats a good little man i would accept the general concept even though if i felt the need to i could probably come up with detailed theories suggesting otherwise that might get you on a technicality...........but alas most folk just accept a general principal for what it is without the need for a stewards inquiry over it

Interesting as im sure it all is i dont need scientific write ups to tell me raising the heartbeat is aerobic and not raising the heartbeat is anaerobic.....which is all this simple little conversation was about.
  11. My point is years ago a naturally scrappy kid would go into a gym and learn how to get fit.......nowdays naturally fit kids are going into gyms and learning how to be scrappy and you cant put in what nature left out..........at that age most natural fighters will have an excited anticipation in the build up to a fight not a nervous apprehension......im a big believer in that you dont choose boxing as a sport boxing chooses you and its certainly not for everyone.
  12. Without sounding unkind,if a lads nervous and apprehensive about getting punched in the face then boxing is probably not the sport for him......training to fight and actual fighting require a completely different mindset and its where these amateur clubs setting up on every street corner these days need to be careful. When we was young it was just the rough tough scrappy kids with a fire in the belly and excess energy who would box to keep them from getting in trouble on the streets .....nowadays a lot these clubs seem to be tripping over their own social conscience and are not as much boxing g

Think we,re overcomplicating this just a teeny weeny bit dont you .....Tomo pointed out that static/muscle exercise is anaerobic....and running/heartrate exercise is aerobic..........its that simple.

sitting watching the tv uses oxygen...lol Not to aid muscle recovery it doesnt........a persons aerobic fitness level is dependant on the amount of oxygen that can be transported to the working muscles via the blood system/lungs and the efficiency of the muscles to be able to use that oxygen..............you are not exercising muscles watching tv ...unless of course you have your Jane Fonda workout video on
  17. Funny you should say that we got him a little Jack Russell a few months back just as a bit of company but the dog wont sit on the old boys feet......he,ll sit in his lap,in his arms but wont go near his feet not silly this dog !......Bless your hearts for the nice words and for voicing your opinions chaps he,s a nice old bloke we,ll get to work on some of the ideas over the coming weeks and ordered a pair of battery socks today so hopefully see a difference
  18. I asked a friend of mine who is a bit of a stats bod today what premier league team has had the most possession over the course of the season.......Chelsea ? Man City ? Arsenal ? Man Utd ?........nope..................................................................................Swansea !!.....which kind of backs up Brigzys point.

If I had the time I would use the powerhouse road work keep on all my dogs... Cant say as ive ever seen it but be very careful giving a dog too much roadwork it builds too much muscle mass id rather do not enough roadwork than too much you dont want a dog over muscled.

Keeping it very simple......aerobic work requires oxygen via breath to feed the muscles......working anaerobically requires glycogen for fuel....ie oxygen is not present. Jogging is still using oxygen
  21. He,s been back and forwards to the docs for a while now as he,s not long found out he,s diabetic which obviously dont help the situation but that aside theres nothing actually wrong with him he,s on certain medications and doc has suggested a few home remedy type things for the feet he,s in his ,s so not looking for a magical cure just something to make things a little easier. Mick1212 i just had a look at them battery heated socks they look great think we,ll give them a go thankyou mate .............battery heated socks whatever next
  22. 66% sounds more like it..............i would imagine the record would be in the high 70,s maybe ?.....probably Arsenal !

While a slatmill is the perfect tool to get the lungs open nothing will bring a dogs reactions up as well as a flirt pole.....a combination of both coupled with long handwalking should be the basics to your conditioning.
  24. Anyone got any suggestions for permanently cold feet.....i check in on an old boy near me and he,s close to crying sometimes......i even sank to the all time low of rubbing the poor old fuckers feet today with my bare hands i cant be doing that too often Bought him some of these pad things you put in the microwave but he said they only stay warm for about 2 hours......tried thermal socks, hot water bottles.......i suppose its just his age/bad circulation i just wondered if anyone knows of anything else on the market thats all ?
  25. Remember the first time i ever saw Benn at the Black Lion hitting the bags i always said it was like watching a young Elvis or a young Pele you just knew you was watching someone special.......couldnt take a great shot but was one of the most natural fighting men ive ever seen.
