I think players like Rooney and Owen peaked far too early in their careers....probably the wrong body type for longevity.....too much boys/youth football maybe ?....i know on the continent they refuse to put boys affiliated to pro clubs through the type of competitive club/school/county leagues that we do over here for precisely that reason they dont want all that over playing stress on an undeveloped body.

I think the drawback with Rooneys goalscoring record is the opposition and the fact a big number of his goals were from the penalty spot...i know he scored bundles in friendlies against goat herders but did he really score and perform in the big games with any consistency ?

I have the odd natter with Teddy as we have a few mutual pals i could listen to him all day he always said Shearer was the best partnership in terms of understanding he ever had in the game....but yes what you say makes sense about formations and not something i really think about....so what your saying is Lineker had better service than Shearer would of had ?.......i wonder could it be the same with Kane today its not like he has an abundance of creative talent behind him in an England shirt.

Interesting......as an outright goal poacher ( purely in an England shirt i meant ) i always booked Shearer as tops i liked his aggression and desire to simply score a goal he must of been a nightmare to play against im told even in training he was avoided and just couldnt play the game without growling...i like that kind of intensity in any sportsman maybe thats something lads like Owen and Fowler lacked ?.......Ian Wright was another who had that lovely passion and desire to do well that all fans love to see.....Lineker i could never make my mind up about i booked him half an iron after Mexi

I think its great to live in a time when we can have that kind of argument im not sure Pele had a rival in his era or Maradona in his ( Stiff will probably correct me he seems to know his players ? ) i think Messi and Ronaldo are the 2 greatest players of all time and Ronaldo just pips it for me.....Scholes i was never sold on him great vision and ability yes but i preferred Gerrard if im honest ?

Its probably just a wording issue when you hear someone say Tyson Fury would beat Muhammad Ali you tend to think they are saying Fury is better but of course its all relative and again like i said to your first post....put 40% on Ali and take 40% off Fury as an evolutionary allowance and it becomes a joke fight....we got their in the end ?

Thats the long and the short of it.....Fury is a decent fighter who makes good use of his physical advantages.....for boxing purists its not nice to see fighters become world champions on physical size alone ( Valuev being a perfect example ) but it is what it is until boxing comes into the 21st century in terms of weight divisions this kind of thing will continue to happen in heavyweight boxing....for me in terms of boxing ability Fury came on a bundle when he got away from his family trainers he started utilising his height and reach in what is very basic 1st and 3rd boxing technique you lea

Yep like i say each to their own once your flaked out in the evening,i just like people around me to be on the ball,from what ive seen over the years i think it induces apathy and indifference....saps the will to fight if you like.....i think one of the reasons theres such a big push to legalise cannabis ( and it will be legalised ) is because it makes people tolerate things they wouldnt otherwise tolerate.

Absolutely beautiful to watch that was.....brilliant driver in a car that handles like Lionel Messi ! Past v Present is always a silly debate in sport unless you sensibly take some of the evolutionary advantages away from the present fighter and add them to the past fighter......Henry Cooper with 30% more of everything would absolutely annihilate Derek Chisora with 30% less of everything......likewise Ali with 30% more of everything would do what he wanted with a 30% less Klitchsko. Comparing Tyson Fury to Muhammad Ali is just being silly.....you just have to be sensible about it Ali beat all time great fighters in their primes...Fury has never and will never even fight an all time great
