  1. The dogs looked bored waiting for the season so me and Jamie gave them a run around the Valley. Ted posing The terriers checking the hedge. All in hot persuit Only 2 rabbits taken, but a canny walk out. Dave.
  2. Dont play her down Pointer, she is an ideal alround hunting dog for the thick reedbeds of the Moors where you hunt. She has Nose, Coat and Staminar and the amount of rabbits i have seen her catch week in week out is proof enough of her breeding and ability. Dave.
  3. Looks a cracking little team you have there mate. Dave.
  4. The price will depend on how much training its had, and yes some lines are more suited to Beating than others. Dave.
  5. Good clips mate, there will be no stopping you now. Dave.
  6. Nice looking dogs Jack, do they get much work. Dave.
  7. Was out last week with Jamie Shooting around the reed beds and around the flght ponds for rabbits. And then out again earlier this week clearing a few out of the woods. Sorry about the crap pics, was with my phone and was late by the time we finished, (we nearly missed the pub). Dave.

  13. Cracking looking Lab mate, what type of shooting do you do. Dave.
  14. She also has a quarter terrier in there mate, she is a cracking little bitch with the heart of a lion. An end of day pic from our trip last week when again she hunted very well. Another decent day keeping the local bunnys down. Dave.
  15. A few pics of Fern now she is out and about. Fern sorting out Ted And then finding out that Jenny is the real Boss With best mate Paddy But she carnt follow him everywhere The Stallion is to big to mess with Hope you like them. Dave.
  16. Would be better off in the Hound section mate. KC Bassets are over wrinkeled and un athletic. From working stock they are excellent hunters although difficult to control, as there Desirer is to follow the scent line and ignor everything else. So depends what you want them for. Dave.
  17. But i can only realy go off the last GWP i had and others i have known, his sire was the Norweigian import, the Norweigian Ambassidor at Gavic (Nico) out of Paul Robinson Kennels and the dam was a Falconry bitch, he was daft until 2 but then became an excellent allround hunting dog. It was maybe a little to much show blood in him, but next time i will look much further into the breeding lines for steadier stock. Kiwi, you can tell you put the time into your training and are very Knowledgeable in the breed, that was my first GWP, although i had gundogs before, maybe it was my unexperience
  18. Apsolute Cracker mate. Good luck with her training. Dave.
  19. Thanks for the replys. Can i just point out that I DO NOT find the GWP lacking in any way what so ever and have owned and admirred them for many years. This was just an artical that i found interesting and wondered what others veiws were. I am not having a go at either breed, far from it, i have owned both breeds and know there are advantages and disadvantages in both, as there is in any breed. I have recently taken on a Lab bitch pup and was impressed with the amount of good hunting Labs (rather than Peg dogs) around at the minute that are suitable as a rough shooters dog, possibly com
  20. There was a very interesting artical 2 weeks ago in the shooting times, by Mr Lindsay Waddell. He describes old keepers dogs and how versitile they had to be, he also goes on to say how cross breeds are becoming more popular once again ie sprockers and the like. He then goes on to write how GWP are now being crossed over Lab bitches and in the main are producing excellent working dogs with all the attributes of both breeds, working game with a tender mouth, as well as dealing with all the pest species that keepers face, be used to check traps and track deer, this means the dog can be used al
  21. Nice looking bitch, good luck with her. Dave.
  22. Sorry to hear that, he looked an absolute cracker. Dave.
  23. Yes her nose is down all the time and she seems to have alot more spirit than the other Lab i have had, which is what i wanted. She is also finer boned as i didnt want a thick set Peg dog, this dog will have to hunt once or twice a week, every week not just in the season. Dave.
