  1. its interesting that a lot of folk blame the KC. ITS THE BREEDERS THAT ASK TO BE REGISTERED. the KC dont breed dogs. breed clubs apply. are there any patterdale breed clubs in the uk that have applied. ?. to be honest i agree with the lads that say it wont affect working dogs as no working patt lad would get involved with this sort of thing. as long as there are real dogmen there will be real dogs.
  2. we brought a dog up here many years ago from ken gould the spit of that . solid looking terrier good luck to the new owner and the dog
  3. i'm sure they would. time will tell as they are here now. so comparisons will be drawn. but to be honest who cares. as long as there are good dogs to be had. no matter the breed.
  4. if its for marking holes etc. a terrier can be a great partner . any terrier bred for ratting rabbiting will / should do a good job.
  5. CS, do plummers follow a line like a lot of JRs do (the ones I've seen working) or are they capable of air scenting? (to some standard) Do they travel/work any further or closer from the handler compared to other terriers? the bitch in the pic air scents bossie. and stays and works close most of the time. but on a hot scent she will be off .can be a nightmare at times. as she can cover the ground quickly. its funny to watch her air scenting as she is close to the ground and as the scent rises she spends most of her time stretching her neck or on two legs lol. my other two tend to wor
  6. now there is a foot in the door for some experienced ratters. make sure take a camera fd.. there are a few packs that do this regularily on the plum site.
  7. A PIC OF A LURCHER HIT ON THE M74 HAS BEEN POSTED ON FACEBOOK. the injured dog is ok. but no owner has be found as yet. it was near larkhall . this is all i know the dog is in the vets.there is a fone no on farse book
  8. welcome to the site what methods are you useing to thin out the beaver population.
  9. this plummer has a little bull in its makeup. and has nose and drive. she has worked with a couple of bulls. (staffs) they did have reasonable noses but it depends on what you are comparing them too. the prime requisite of a bushing dog for me is nose. drive is good but without a really good nose its limited. but with plenty of both you have a handy beast.
  10. take a lamp out at night. or one of those powerfull torches. search all the likely spots and dont forget to look for good ratting patches. also go out dawn and dusk and walk about looking for bunnies. its as simple as that. a pushbike is handy for this. it gives you a little more hight and is silent. once you spot where the rabbits / rats are. get out after them with your dog. simples.
  11. sad end that. but at least you know what happened to the dog. nothing worse than not knowing.. and it ends what could have been months of uncertainty rip.
  12. some fine looking terriers there. thanks for shareing
  13. good luck with the new camera trigger 2. i'll try and get some at the weekend off mine. but dont hold yer breath lol

  15. quality pics them. and two fine anilals also you have to love a nicely made russell edited to say the condition of those terriers is a credit to there owner. superb
  16. took these playing with the 600D. and kit lens. (18-55 ) nothing special. but i like taking pics its about being out with the camera/dogs.
  17. if you get a bridge you will still want a dslr later. false economy .. some bridges are harder to work than entry level dslr. camera's.
  18. that would be a yes. and it is very simple to use. you can learn as you go. these camera's do a great job of point and shoot. as well as the trickier stuff.. i have this camera for the same sort of stuff..
  19. fkucin love smoked streaky bacon on a butty . crispy no sauce just naked bacon
  20. i would do as much recall training as possible in the house then confined to a long leash. then move on to a training line. i wouldnt give the dog any chance of scenting untill the recall was good. the less chance it has of throwing you a deaf ear. the better. letting a dog hunt before it has a good recall is a sure way of wasting hours of training. trust me ive spoiled most of my dogs so have an idea where i have been going wrong i know i goes against a lot of advice but you need to recall train before you hunt it. if the dog chases and ignores your calls . it will reinforce this behavour.
  21. you dont need to be able to write well to be able to tell if something bores you. as the paying public. you have the right to criticise. if you dont like something you dont like it.
  22. i,m just learning the ropes so not the best. but took on a D3200. gives an idea of what they would be capable of in the right hands.
