  1. Well done, it is great just to get out. If you must use a lamp, use it wisley. In an area where rabbits are lamped often they often become lamp shy and bolt as soon as a lamp goes on them. You don't really want the rabbits bolting into the nets at high speed. You will catch more by walking the rabbits into the net. At the start of the season a wise man takes his lamp and visits their grounds and finds out where and what time the rabbits are feeding. Once he has that information he leaves the lamp at home. TC
  2. Has he predicted the storm next weekend? A storm in October is not really hard to predict is it? As it happened it was no more than a blip if the one coming next weekend comes true to the prediction it should be a belter. TC
  3. Hi R Within reason the lighter the draw cords the better IMO Anything between 1.3mm to 2mm usually works well and is light enough not to cause sag in the lines. I know Mr Wilkes likes 1.3mm, I prefer 1.8mm hollow braid. TC
  4. I make a simplified version of beetroot chutney. 1.5 kilos peeled beetroot diced or pulsed in a blender. 2 medium cooking apples peeled cored and diced small 2 medium onions diced small 300g of sugar brown or white 1pint of malt vinegar white or brown 1 teaspoon of ground ginger 1 teaspoon of salt. Just place all the ingredients in a large pan, bring to the boil then simmer with the lid off till it starts thickening. Or till you can draw a wooden spoon through the mixture and the grove it makes stay for a little while. One importent part is the jars have to be sterile put the
  5. So far I have been a busy little old man, I have made pickled onions beetroot and cabbage. Runner bean chutney, sweet picalilly and beetroot chutney. I went to make some branston pickle but with the amount of ingredients that go into it you could buy 20 jars of the stuff. Anyone else made anything? TC

  8. I would not worry about it, it took me about eight goes before I caught my first rabbits. If you know there are rabbits there and you did not catch, it could be down to a number of reasons, that are beyond your control. A fox could have walked the field just before you set the net, the rabbits are not out feeding at the time you set the net. The full moon would not have helped as the rabbits do not tend to wander far from home when the moon is full. My advice would be go at a different time next time you do that drop give them and hour each side of the time you went. Say you went at 10 tr

  14. Check out Myhermes web site it is about the cheapest around. BPR the reason it says free postage on ebay is that if you offer local collection, ebay put it as free postage nothing to do with the seller. TC
  15. To be honest, I do think this thread has run it's course and just going round in circles now. There are many factions of what people persieved has happened. All is guess work, and untill or if the truth comes out wether that be that the child is found, alive or dead. Or concrete evidence is presented that the McCans were involved none of us will ever know. You can guess till the cows come home, but you will never know till there is firm evidence that will stand up in a court of law. TC
  16. The problem I found, was that people are willing now to take decreased margins, consiquently the prices in the auction have increase. What I started to do a few years ago is look for niche markets, where the margins are considerably higher. The problem then is that someone always cottons on to what you are buying and selling, and so ends up in competition with you at the auctions. So the cycle starts again and you have to find new niches. TC

Probably too concerned with making sure no f**ker went near that sofa! Probably because the police were asking her inane question? TC
