Thats how dogs and cats should exist they do not have to like each other just tolerate and be non agresive. A dog that is not broken to cats is a liability to Itself and other people. I was lucky, I had a good lurcher that was not broken to cats came home from lamping one night and a cat run out just as I got the dog out of the car. The dog gave chase, the cat ended up under the wheels of a taxi and the dog bounced of the side of the taxi. That was back in 1970's never had a dog that is not broken to cats since. TC

The problem with parenting skills is they have to be learned, children do not come with a manual. Everyone learns as they go along, and they make mistakes along the way. Most mistakes have no real consequences that is too the detriment of the child. However, now and again it does happen that the mistake has terrible consequences and this is one of those mistakes. As has been said, they have to live with that mistake for the rest of their lives, and could be the driving force behind the actions they are pursuing. Guilt and remorse are powerful motivators. TC

I have to agree that 10z is a good net, without a boubt. However, If your spun poly is soaking up water then there is something wrong. As polyester is hyrophobic it repels water. That is how you cannot dye it with dylon and all the normal dyes. I remember a thread quite a few years ago ( not on here) where it was discussed wether the spun poly we buy was actually 100% poly or if it was a mixture. I use 100% poly for my double stranded nets and have the devils own job to dye it as the dye solution cannot penetrate the twine. TC

Feck me there are some vivid imagnations on this thread. It could well be that they are guilty of killing their child, (highly unlikely but possible) but, it is equally possible that they are totally innocent. All these fanciful scenarios as to what they think has happened. They would do well writing fiction. TC

You are exactly right, things have changed and any sane person knows that. That's also why it's even more unbelievable they left their kids alone, nearly as unbelievable as that folks are defending them. Most people are not defending them, just stating that we all make mistakes in our lives, and they seem to be paying more than most for theirs. TC

It is surprising what little niches there are out there to make money on. I have one on ebay if I see one at a bootsale I always buy them, never more than a pound or two and usually make well over 20 quid. But as you say fashions change and you have to be at it all the time, otherwise you tend to lose touch. I am just getting back into it after a few years away and it's suprising how much has changed in 4 years. It's just a matter of finding the new niches. TC

Oh, how this country has changed. Once it was perfectly acceptable to leave your children in a chalet and go to the club and drink all night. It was done all the time in Billy's Brothel they had workers that would do a round of the chalets with children in every half an hour or so just to make sure that the children were alright. How times have changed. TC

True. Think on this, how many of you have said come on the baby will sleep for another hour only to be caught out when they wake unexpected. I do not believe anyone thinks that their child will be abducted. I would not do it but some might, if children have a recognised sleep pattern is it so bad to assume that the pattern will carry on and the children will sleep for the usual amount of time? There is not a parent born that has not made mistakes looking after children. I am grandfather who is charged with looking after his grandchildren now and again. Today I took my eye of the youngest for about 10 seconds and she tried to climb into her dolls pram and fell on the floor. Luckily she was not hurt, pride dented a bit but not hurt. Yet with my own children I have ended up in casualty on more than a few occasions. I am not saying what they did was right, all I am trying to say is 'let ye who is without sin cast the first stone'. If the twins were an intended target also when madiline went missing. Surly they would have been taken at the same time? As to what has happened? As I stated earlier I have a gut feeling that they are not complicit with the child going missing, however I do not have a clue what actually happened the same as the rest of us. Yes, leaving your kids alone in your own house is wrong, let alone in a foreign country. I am not sticking up for them I am just giving my thoughts on what I have read. TC

The point about being quiet and letting things die down, ever heard of reverse phsycology?. They can't be involved, if they were involved they'd let it die down. Smart cookies this pair. One thing is for sure they are not smart enough to outwit Scotland yard, you have some of the countries finest detecives working on this case, all through the lobbying of the McCanns. It's one hell of a risk to take when you are home free if you were guilty. Reverse phsycology does not come into it, that would be utter madness. TC

Mal, They wanted to have a quick conclusion of the case. Read the lists of questions she was asked. Nearly every question was loaded, in that it could be intpretated in many ways. To be honest their life style or charactor may have had a lot to do with the childs disappearance, but we can speculate all we like, I honestly think the child was taken. Wether the McCanns were complicit or not I could not tell you, but my gut feelings says not. TC

In any missing person enquiery the first suspects are the people nearest to the missing person. The portuguese police looked no further than the McCanns. There was universal condemnation of their methods in the months after Madaline went missing. Even 7 years after the event, the british police are gathering more evidence than the portuguese police managed in the first few months. There will be a crime watch special soon and there will be new material released. TC

From what I have read, the reason I think she was unco-opertave with the police was that they had her as a suspect and were not persuing other lines of enquieries. The portuguese poice did not believe that she had been kidnapped so concentrated on the McCanns. If my child had been kidnapped and I knew so, and the police would not even consider trying to find her, instead trying to build a case against me for murder. I would not co-operate with them either. When you have a polygraph test they ask you two questions at the begining of the test, these are called controls any variation from those controls are classed as you not telling the truth. The offical figures for the accuracy of the test are between and 99% accurate. Another factor with GRP poles is the ratio of glass to resin. I tried once to buy them commerically and was asked what they were for, when told what I wanted them for, I was asked if I wanted the cheaper version of them as they had less matting and more resin in thier make up. The way poles are made is chopped fibregass and resin is extruded from a machine by the manufacturer. Depending on the application for the poles the ratio of resin to glass is ajusted to suit. TC
