  1. 11 changes for the tonga match on friday night. Ryan jones is captain.
  2. If you follow the defra link it comes up page not found 404. But if you type importing hatching eggs in the search bar you will get some info there. From what I understand, it is legal, but you will need a licence from defra. Also the xray machines ca scupper the chances of the eggs being fertile. TC

  4. Or a bury depends which part of the country you are from. As a bye, what do you call a rabbit warren that has part been taken over by badgers where the rabbits and badgers are living side by side in the same holes? TC Paulus beat me to it.
  5. H had sex with the new girlfriend tonight for the first time, it was a bit of a mystery. First she asked how I would like it hard or soft? Not being a wus, I said hard. It was horibble dry and rasping is how I would put it. This is no good says I I will try the soft way, ok says her I will be right back. What a difference smoth moist and warm. After I asked her how did you do that? Its not hard she told me, when I went to the bathroom I just picked the scabs and let the pus run.

  6. Over the last few years we have had a few of them with various amounts of white on them around the area. Around two years ago there was one that looked like a magpie in clouring. He was back today, I set up the camera on a tripod and opened the backdoor with some cammo netting over it waiting for him, when he did arrive the batteries had gone flat in the camera. TC
  7. Terrible photos shot through a window, but you get the idea. TC
  8. Jd has signed for claremont. Adam out for the rest of the autumn internationals. TC
  9. As I always say there is no right or wrong with netting, if it works don't knock it. There is more than one way of skinning a cat and as long as the job is done then it does not really matter how you get there. TC
  10. `I had had a few by the time the game started,(nothing new there) but from what I can remember it did seem as if we were not playing as a team. Re Jon Davies's breaks, he was on his own for the two breaks he made. As for the rest we were out muscled and out played. The amount of possesion we had we should have made in-roads into their defence, when in truth we did not really worry them. As for the cause I don't have a clue, it could be fatigue, it could be that they are not playing as a team? One thing is certain though, losing good players early on did not help the cause. I was not di
  11. After making up the cheap nets I worked out that I still had enough twine on the ball to make a 25 yard net. I made the net with a 4.25 inch mesh 13 meshes deep in the body of the net, plus selvedges giving a 14 mesh 59.5" deep net. I used the twine off ebay I have found it a lovely twine to knit with strong, slightly stiff but takes a single knot well. I would say that it needs to be despooled correctly otherwise you could get twists in it. Why I made the net god knows as I dont really need it, I suppose it will go in the bag with the others never to be used. TC
  12. PK, http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/306160-repairing-long-nets/ That should answer your queary. TC
  13. Following on from the other thread, I thought I would show how I repair my nets. I feel that everyone should know how to repair nets and it is not really that difficult. This method can be used horizontaly or vertically, I just prefer the horizontal way of doing it. First off the tools I use for the way I repair nets. Two pieces of bar wood dowel what ever, a straight piece of wire about 10 inches long and twine and a scissors. To set the net up for the repair I add the bars above and below the tear, and tension them with the bungee. Next I trim the hole back
  14. I usually take out what is damaged back to a side knot each side of the repair then knit in what is missing, so I end up with what I have cut out replaced. However, sometimes that is not possible and a piece has to be cut out of the net and the net joined. if the piece cut out is only a couple of meshes wide I will leave it at that. But if it is a large amount of meshes you can then either, shorten your lines or add the corresponding amount of meshes to the end of the net. TC
  15. patching nets is a great way to spend a sunday in the garden= brilliant eerm TC i can see a problem with that net at the bottom! Patching up a chewed up net's is one thing I cannot stand, if you were a little nearer I could quite happily keep you in work chap! ;-) Mr Goodcat. I am with PK on this I really do enjoy it once started, problem is getting started. Two short poles, a bungee, a piece of wire and away to go. TC
  16. Apart from the fact it does not have lines or pins yet. Prey do tell. TC
  17. Looking forward to the match tomorrow, Pity Eli Walker is out, but good news for Sanjay (Liam Williams) he has been on fire for the scarlets this year. Hopefully it will be a good match. TC
  18. I had some old 4z nets from an old fishing trammel, the trouble was, they were full of holes and the depth of the net was too short. Over the last month I have been working on them, first patching all the holes then extending the depth. I am going to use these for daytime ferreting to save the good nets for night time use. The short mended net. First selvedge added. The completed nets They look a mis-mash but they will work, and at a cost of just over £7 for the twine are cheap and cheerful. TC
  19. You could use it doubled up for purse nets, but it would still be light. I just made a 25 yard long net out of it and would recommend it to anyone for making long net but not for purse nets. Just for info the 1.2 kilo spool will make the body of a 50 yard long net at 13 meshes deep. It knots like a dream and is really very nice to knit with. If despooled correctly it does not twist when loading needles. TC

  21. Smithie, do you angle your nets away from the oncoming rabbits? Most traditional netters do, and the reason for the angle is to allow more net to lay on the floor before the rabbits hit the wall of netting, thereby increasing the chances of the rabbits claws catching in the netting. Even when walked slow not every rabbit hops up to the net, but most do. Years ago I used to tail my nets at every drop and would catch a good percentage of the rabbits in the tails. Then watching some rabbits reaction when I was scouting out a drop one afternoon, it occured to me that if I could replicate the w
  22. Yes, You put a 90 degree angle with the last and first few yards of net so the net looks like └――――┘ instead of a straight line. It stops the rabbits running the length of the net if they bounce off the net. TC
  23. In your case it could be many things that caused the rabbits not to be in the net. Did you tail the nets? When rabbits hit the net at full speed they stretch the netting taught and unless their heads go through a mesh are unlikley to get caught at the first go, they usually bounce and then try again, or run along the net and if the net is not tailed they will escape. When a rabbit is walked slowly into a net they usually try and push their way through a net, to do that they have to be standing on the net and that is when they get their claws tangled (especially with a double stranded net)
