  1. You only get out of a dog what you put into one mate, yes all may not make the grade to be world beaters, it's the easiest thing in the world to give up on a dog ,get rid and get another. I know a few lads who leave there pups in there runs for 6 months without any exercise or training, then they expect them to go out and catch on there first night!!. You only get out of a dog what you put in IMO
  2. Typical answer for on here... Get Rid!!. The only reason why dogs fail is that YOU FAIL THEM, they don't fail themselves....
  3. I really can't understand folk wanting to get dogs working too young, I start to show mine abit about 10-11 months old, depending on the pup. Some arnt ready at that age as there still immature mentally and pysically. All the pups i've reared and entered have made good working dogs, some may say thats just luck some may say it's because i took things steady.. I've seen dozens of dogs ruined for starting them too early but i've never seen one ruined starting them too late...
  4. He's 8 months old ffs, leave him 3 months and take him for a few runs on the lamp.
  5. The middle bitch in the photo is still available and a fawn dog pup i think....
  6. Mally, We have tried to sort this problem out - at fairly great expense I may add - by introducing novice lurcher events to let ordinary guys run without having to meet 'elite' racing dogs. We have also tried KC registered and non ped split - that got criticism because people couldn't afford or be bothered to register their dogs. This time round we had 'Pure Bred' whippets and non ped /Under 21 classes. Still disputes. I really do wonder why I bother. I was asked personally to look at three whippets to rule on whether they were 'pure bred'. It was easy on two - the other I thought marg
  7. Running non-ped whippets and greyhounds at these events is just a joke, what are you achieving??? why not run the dogs at the non-ped meetings or flapping tracks?? i tell you all why, the dogs wouldn't stand a chance. If i ever ran a racing event i would ask to see the pedigree of all the whippets that entered the ped whippet racing, no pedigree then they don't run. You'll always get folk wanting or trying to cheat. But at the end of the day there only cheating themselves. I've seen dogs running at maltby non ped racing club on a saturday and then running in the lurcher racing at a gamefai
  8. Gamebore black gold are an excellent clay cartridge, very fast and clean burning. Alot of people also use this cartridge for shooting partridge. http://www.gamebore.com/page.php?id1=2&id2=2

  12. I have a vasectomised hob and 7 jills mate, you'll need a seperate cage otherwise he'll end up skin and bone from shagging himself silly . I put him in a seperate cage and put 1 jill with him at a time giving him a few days rest between jills..... Thanks for that Mally. That's something I hadn't thought of. Well my hutch is a big 2 tier so I could separate them top and bottom in season and keep him locked in the top (4' x 2') and then let the Jills have the run of the bottom tier and outside run. How long do you leave the Jill with him for? Just a day? Thanks Gaz

  14. Well it certainly wasn't that way in the class's i judged mate i can assure you of that. I wouldn't beable to live with myself, and at the end of the day the people have paid there entrance fee to the show and paid to enter the class, therefore there dogs should be judged fairly and honestly. Anyone involved with the running of any show shouldn't be allowed to enter there dogs in the show. It totally sickens me and makes my piss boil when i see it happening and it does at alot of the shows.
  15. I always take my dogs to Paul Evans at Oldham, Manchester mate. It's a 140 mile round trip but well worth it. He's a specialist greyhound vet that doesn't do bullshit. He tells you the truth without the bullshit and finds the problem with the dog in minutes. I use a local vet for the run of the mill things like jabs etc, but always travel to Paul for injuries etc.
  16. I've judged at a couple of lurcherworld shows and i can assure you that the best dog won at the class's i judged, Thats how it should be in my opinion. After the last show i judged at (thoresby gamefair) i decided not to judge anymore lurcher class's for a while, as the condition of some of the dogs was embarrasing. I even had a dog in one class with fleas. The racing also carried on and the judging should have started at 1pm but didn't start until after 3!!
  17. This is mine, it's 8x6 and has 2 levels I'm in the process of making a larger one outdoors as it gets quite hot in the shed during the summer.
  18. Goodluck with the sale mate, hope you find him a good home and your circumstances improve .
