  1. Had a bedlington x whippet X bedlington greyhound over 20 years ago. It was a good alrounder.
  2. It all depends on the individual dog mate and it's breeding. I start my whippet pups at about 11 months.
  3. would you use anything to rub into a dog for say bruised shoulder things like that would you use anything to rub into a dog for say bruised shoulder things like that I use gold label witch hazel and arnica gel for muscle strains etc, works a treat. It brings out any bruising really quick and cuts down recovery time.
  4. Try PUBs mate they will sort you out with a picker up.
  5. It was a good morning mate, especally seeing your face when you got your first goose. It was great to repay the favour you did for me in feeding and cleaning out my ferrets when i was in hospital and for helping me out on the shoot. Think you'll agree we could have shot dozens the way they were coming, at the end of the day though you still have to carry them off the field and shoot what you need is my way
  6. If your knocking us breeding from show bred whippets mate then please feel free to come down here to see mine working. Both Vixen and Sagar are 1/2 show bred and i would sooner breed from a show bred whippet than a non ped with no stamina and nothing between the ears. As for telling someone to keep at it working an 8 month old pup, shouldn't even be running at that age. Let it be a pup ffs. I don't start mine until there ready usually at least 10 months old and then it's only a couple of runs a night. Sagar the pup i'm bringing on now is 13 month old ans he's been running about 6 weeks and
  7. Seen a few pure saluki's running, the 2 below are among my favourites. They were bred by Paul Sagar

  9. yep get the benylin out lurcher had it couple off weeks back cleared him up quickly Use the one for chesty coughs and give it to them 3 times a day, should be sorted in a few days but keep them in for at least 7 days
  10. Hard to train, Looks like it was doing ok until you decided to let it eat it's catch it the field???? why you did this only you can answer. All i do is at the end of the night when i'm gutting the rabbits is give each dog a liver as a reward. I never ever feed rabbit with fur on. It's going to be a long hard road to get your dog back to how it was, if it ever does get back to how it was.
  11. I had my lab bitch speyed about 3 months ago mate and she's not changed in anyway, infact i'd say she'd probably a little more swtiched on when out mooching about with the whippets. I agree with the above post though, too many vets are speying pups nowadays before they are mature which IMO is totally out of order.
  12. I'll be out and i have to walk about 200yds mate as there on the stubbles at the back of my house every year. Always shoot a few geese and mallard on the first day and I'm counting the days we have to wait!!. Guns, cartridges and decoys already ready!!!
  13. Just a shame what i sent her out to was a bloody mole hill!!!, I really must go to specsavers lol. Thanks for those Bass and Flatties mate they went down great with a few cans of guiness. (you forgot the cans i gave you to take home!!! and sorry but i drank them lol)
  14. She's a nice bitch mate. Fantastic ferreting bitch, what with me being unwell and having Vixen to run throughout last season she hadn't done alot of lamping but from what i saw the other night there is a very good chance she'll be as good as Vixen on the lamp. Her early pace is just staggering and she can turn on a sixpence. If it wasn't for her having a hatred for Vixen and visa versa she would have stayed here. No money changed hands as a good home was more important than any amount of money. Don't forget to get up here for the weekend in october plenty of rabbits about. must be hard to

  16. Your more than welcome mate, As you know i wouldn't have let her go to just anyone. She'll do you proud mate i'm sure of that. All the best with her and i will see you in september for the weekend ferreting and lamping
  17. Well said, I ran a Whippet X Beddy for seven seasons, she hated rats with a vengeance, never made any difference to her when on Rabbits, or Pheasants, When she was a Pup she got pecked on the nose by Crow, and would not go near them. As already stated start the dog on rabbits and plenty of them then introduce the dog to rats. Vixen my fawn bitch also hates rats but still retrieves rabbits live to hand.
  18. Buy cheap and buy twice mate, i know from personal experience. The Winchester SX3 is the best semi auto on the market at the moment IMO. My friend owns a gunsop and could have any auto he wanted but he's chosen the winchester SX3. says it all really.
  19. It's folk like you thats fecking this site up, you know nothing and it's about time you grew up lad. Whippet owners don't throw there dogs out of the jeep after there quarry after chasing at around for half and hour to tire it out before throwing them out the window just because your dogs arnt' fast enough to catch it if it was given fair law. Lads like you will end up getting working with dogs totally banned. Remember to use a tissue the next time you sneeze as you may lose your last remaining brain cell.
  20. It wasn't a charlie lads but it did have some serious head gear on him and k9's like fecking razors and the bast**d caught me on the hand when i did the deed. It wasn't just his ear it also caught his neck which i've stapled. I have washed it with hibi scrub and stapled it, he's had a jab of anti biotics and a dose of metacam. He's eaten up tonight which is a good sign and he's his usual self. he's kept in the house so i'll keep a close eye on him. I don't use anti biotics that often only if they get a nip off anything and thats only if it looks liek it's going the wrong way. too many peop
  21. Top post and totally agree, out this afternoon with my young 13 month old pup and he ran and caught something double his wieght even though i had to staple him up afterwards he never let go. I wouldn't run owt else as they are suited to the land i run them on. Alot of people underestimate them. could not be arsed perving at your profile mal is the bitch you have called vixen??? you have done a few topics with her cracking dogs and pics as always mal atb yis wl Yes mate she is called Vixen.

  23. Was out feeding around the shoot boundries earlier and decided to take sagar my 13 month old whippet pup along. There's nothing much around the boundries as the birds are still in and around the pens. The little bugger flushed something he really shouldn't have even thought about chasing as it was twice his size. I'll give him his due though he never let go even though he had a 11/2" rip to his neck and a torn ear. Bloody blood everywhere from the ear, got him home and the first thing he did was have a shake in the kitchen took me 1/2 hr to clean the blooly walls and units. All sorted now skin
