    As it happens Joe we do welcome novice's and a few of the guns in the syndicate started game shooting by joining our shoot .

    Got time to put some info up about the shoot so here goes = 3000 acres 400 poults to wood (depending on how many join the syndicate and funds received ) £450 per gun we shoot every SAT. in the season taking pheasant redlegs grouse duck woodcock snipe rabbit and hare. alternating from walk and stand one week then walked up the next we can do this due to the extent of ground we shoot over.The ground itself has woodland strips some young plantation and some old woods with windblown trees and plenty of ground cover also there are three duck ponds and a network of burns criss crossing the ground

    Small sized hens used silkies but found still took up lots time and space not really worth the effort if you are trying to save money on stocking a shoot.If you want to enjoy the experience of raising your own birds then crack on remember after they are gone you still have to keep your hens ( these banties can cost a canny bit to buy) unless you can borrow some just for brooding.I only use a small incubator and bring on 100 or so birds to stock a couple of outlying release pens and only do this cause I have the time and like to.

    Don't know about gadgets but now you got to have hunting clothes /boots base ball cap camo of course even coats for the dog and all sorts of whistles to help your pooch hunt hand and feet warmers plus knifes that cost a fortune apps to load up info when and what you shot you got to have the right chokes in the gun .Used to go out with work pants donkey jacket or ex army camo coat wellies or pit boots side by side shotgun 1/4 and 1/2 choke no lead for the dog and only one whistle that's if I had remembered it, on me head flat cap or woollie hat .on a posh day babour or belstaff coat mole skin

    I worked on the foot and mouth with many different slaughter teams never sore anything like that .Just one lad was thrown off the job by the vet for tail twisting and kicking when trying to get a beast into a crush not one of his team defended his actions.We all no there is a place for black humor as it helps when doing what most people would say is awful work and yes someone has to do it but there is a line that's drawn when it turns into what was shown on the video.As you will never change these peoples mindset they should be sacked on the spot no if's or buts the hole team/shift includin

    Aye it was a lazy wind up on the borders on Sat. didn't go round you just went straight through you. We finished the season with a walk about cos it was to cold to stand but a couple of the lads stayed back to try and flight the geese that we had come across on the walk about havn't heard from them since so don't know if they got owt or just perished in the cold wind .Nice looking stamp of an e.s.s.
