    Don't want to be getting caught up in names/translation, its unreliable, in spain a greyhound is a Galgo but not the same as a galgo, in north Africa a Sloughi is often referred to as a saluki. Tazi are a distinct breed and certainly not Salukis, they come from thousands of miles apart.

    A little digging would have it as being by Malcolm Nicholson and a print taken from a book published in 1931 by country life by Croxten Smith with illustration by Malcolm Nicholson. Modern reproductions are pretty common, originals less so, so £30 would be a realistic price and more than I paid.?

    Re breeding and genetics, as said above good doers are different from good producers, if you get one that does and then goes on to produce doers then you have the magic key.
