  1. I have 4 jack russells at the moment. Before them i used to run pure bred border terriers but the best bushing dogs i've seen were my working border collies. Had 5 over a 30 plus year period, all worked sheep and cattle and all got into places that were so tight that terriers had a job to get there. Would bush all day no matter what the conditions.
  2. Yes, I have used them for some years now. Never had any problem with them.

  4. Different FAO's have different requirements. 5 years ago, when i renewed fa/sg certificates was told by the then new fao that the cabinet, which had passed muster for 20 years was not up to standard. Had to buy a new 9 gun cupboard with locking top for ammo. Renewed again in april of this year. New fao passed new cupboard but i asked him to look at the old one while he was there. If he had been fao 5 years ago i wouldnt have had to buy the new one as he said the old one was perfectly ok
  5. Rory Gallagher, Peter Green and Stevie Ray Vaughan and this guy are my favourites
  6. Just tried mine. Its fine.
  7. Like a wide range of music but this has got to be one of my favourites
  8. I too lived thro Maggie's time. Took 20 years to put right what Callaghan and his chronies did. Only 3 people to blame for the mess the whole world is in today, Warmongers all, Bush, B Liar and Brown. How long will it take to put things right this time????

  10. Good to meet you, and as I said before come anytime. The terriers arent really fit at the moment but they have their moments.Thought Blue did really well for his first time bushing and his first time protecting game birds!!! Come lamping when Tyla is fit and we'll see how my pup comes on when she's ready.
  11. Had 2 years from a pair of tay, good considering wellys usually only last me 6 months on the farm. As has been said, soles get very slippery quite quickly. Have now got a pair of esk muckboots. Seem good at the moment. Time will tell.

  14. Your doghound looks like its got show beagle in it. The bitch looks work bred, although on the big side. The spots are quite normal, its known as Eton College tick. She looks like Brighton and Storrington Lavender, who was always brought out as an example of what a beagle shouldnt look like. She hunted like stink tho' and stayed in the pack til she was 9 or 10 years old. If your bitch hunts anything like she did you'll have a winner.
  15. That is Tyla's jack russellXwhippet. The "experts" said this dog would be too slow for rabbits and too small for anything else. Well just goes to show what these "experts" know
  16. I have a jrtxwhippet, 21" to the shoulder and doing all I could ask. When we got him we were told he would be too slow for rabbits and too small for anythings else, luckily neither proved to be true Good luck withy the breeding, you might be pleasantly surprised! I have seen this dog run many times. "If only they knew!" :whistling:

  18. Trilby is back to her old self again. She put so much into chasing those ducks up and down and she hasnt got a lot of fat reserves to fall back on but after a good rub down, some grub and a blanket in front of the fire she is back to normal.
  19. Always liked the original of this from Graffiti Tongue but this version is far better. R.I.P. Rory
  20. Benzyl benzoate. Clears up all sorts of skin conditions. Should be able to get it from a chemist.
  21. I used to lamp a pure collie back in the ,s. When I first started her she wouldnt run down the beam but come in from the side. She used to catch quite a few, perhaps 4 out of every 10 runs, but if you chose the rabbits you ran her on, her averages would go up to perhaps 6 or 7 out of 10. It took her a long time to learn to pick rabbits up, she used to hold them with her front feet until I got there to take them from her. She did the same when ferretting. Also lamped a colliexhuntaway about 10 years ago. She never worked cattle or sheep, just lived for hunting. Took numerous foxes with her,
  22. Leveller. I have just spoken to the master of the rabbit hounds about Milo, the teckel cross. He did have this hound when he first started his pack some 2 years ago but he no longer has him. He did have a hound from the Ryford Chase recently but I dont know what its called.
