  1. Nice going Tyla. Should be plenty more rabbits about here. I'll have a look around see if I cant find a bury or two that isn't too wet then you can come again.
  2. Thanks for the serious replies. I did say in the original post that these greyhound foxes probably died out early in the last century. Richard Clapham mentions them in his books, even wrote Lakeland Grey about them. I just wondered if anyone had any info about them, perhaps tales heard from some of the old terrier boys. Thanks.

  4. On the phone to a friend this evening (who incidentally has a website some people may be interested in, www.cumbrian-lad.com.) and the subject of foxes and terriers came up. Basically he said that terriers bred years ago by the likes of Joe Bowman and Tommy Dobson had to geal with a different type of fox from the little red jobs we get today. These foxes, known as greyhound foxes, weighed up to 23 lbs and were grey in colour, rather than red, a much bigger animal than today's red fox.   5. I had a pair of muckboots (derwent) which lasted for a year on the farm before i wore the soles smooth.Got a pair of muckboots (tay) to replace them 12 months ago. Still going strong with loads of tread left and certainly never had cold feet in this recent cold snap. I think the derwent are designed for occaisional use, go for the Tay or Esk if you live in wellies as I do.
