    Plenty of public land but tag systems etc mean your limited to what and where you can hunt in some places (blocks)you could want to hunt a particular species in a particular area for years and never get drawn,jacklighting deer is common here.

    -41 in Ottawa yesterday tilly,my missus said her face was stinging going from the car to the store,loads of snow around the house,you getting much snow?Wrap up warm and stay indoors mate,let’s hope winter is over soon.

    I would rather garrotte myself than listen to a pundit “expert” dissect a footie match after the event “The guys played a good game” (ummmm,no they didn’t,they lost) “The better team on the day won” (that normally happens) and “If they had done this….that……the other,they might have had a chance” (hindsight is a bitch).

    Slight deviation,but talking of boats and men toys,my mates got a lot of toys,a Lamborghini,jet-skis,Harley’s,the works.Most of the brits here have toys they never had back home,I visited a store today it stocked all sorts of shiny things.

    They are wide and empty,most people don’t walk down them,you could go for miles on a dirt bike,I saw a film crew last week filming a kid dropping down the sides on a skateboard,but there’s always someone filming something in LA.

    Last time I went back home was for a good friends funeral,lost his job in his early 50’s,couldn’t get another,a few months later he parked on a bridge and jumped off,landed on the road below.He left his phone and wallet in the house with a note saying he had ID in his pocket and not to worry.

    It’s not difficult to be honest,I met a bloke from Manchester the other day who came out here to do something and just never went back to the UK,I know brits living in the Hollywood hills making real fortunes,there’s lots of different angles in this game where you can make a very good living even without contacts by just landing at LAX cold,there’s a few brits arrived just like that and were making 10k a week within a month,I was asked to come but were I arriving here with a long term plan I would head to Eureka in Humboldt,it’s the heart of the industry,I only need to stay here a couple of mo

    Sadly,my mate told me he ran when he saw a tarantula,and he is petrified of rattlers,I am the opposite,he also saw a mountain lion when hiking a trail near here,that scared him as well but he thinks nothing of surfing on beaches known to have great white sharks in the water.
