Nuttal bred.

They weren't bred back to beenie to start his line been ie was brought in a lot later after his line was already established. To be honest I dont know why D brought the beenie blood in as the last thing the line needed was another infusion of bull blood.

Got a mate who's caught a couple. He reckons they are no sport for any half decent 22inch plus lurcher.

excelled at ratting and digging?

To be fair a large percentage were/are useless fullstop.

Think unless there's line breeding, all lines are corrupt after outbreeding Exactly,I would go as far as saying there is no pure wheeler dogs anymore.
-
All I can say is that wheeler blood must be strong as you can cross it 3 or 4 times to completely unrelated dogs and the offspring will still be wheeler bred.

Just goes to show that anything that comes out of Gouldys mouth should be took with a pinch of salt.

Know more than you think.

If he had sold more to decent dogmen.we can all live on ifs and buts.

To be fair 90% of the early stuff was just as s##t as what's about today especially a lot of the stuff that Reid was peddling to anyone who had cash in their pocket. The real good stuff was kept within small groups of fanciers just the same as it is today and was no different in size or build as what the proper stuff is today. Put it this way Reid bred some of the best Bulldogs this country has seen and that is a fact. When you think of the amount he was pumping out there was bound to be a couple of good ones.

He told me that he was by spartacus and if you stood him with the stuff we had by spartacus they were like peas in a pod.

Was your mate Paul H? Yes it wasThe dog you're talking about was the grandfather to the dog and bitch in my aviator.

Below the belt that ORT .......... I think the chap is making a fair point. It seems grossly ignorant to me to be told to 'f**k off' for questing a person's motivation in visiting sick children. It seems to me that Hunting Life hero gnasher is guilty of using sick kids to increase his following on this forum. True acts of kindness should be performed quietly, not announced to the world to 'prove ' a person's 'cool dude, diamond geezer' online persona. We've just had the horror of a c**t like Jimmy Saville wandering hospital corridors at will. I thought lessons had been learned from that epi

Got to agree if you need more than 1/2 then the bull in them is obviously s##t so just cull it and try again.

The lads from Essex sold him because he was rock hard and totally mute. They reckoned once he'd been to ground a while they would put a little yapper in to get up behind him then they'd dig to him and the gear which would always be dead.So had to be 2 up to get a dig? Sounds an awesome dogIs that what you took from that post you plank.Read your post again you say they had to put a yapper in so yes you had to use two dogs!Pre lacator it was the diggers that needed the little yapper not Smithy so it doesn't reflect on the dog.How many of todays hardness would make the grade without locators.

The lads from Dagenham told me the dog was bred by Colin and I've also seen pics Colin had of a young dog that certainly looked like Smithy. Its funny everyone's story's match up apart from Ken's.
