It was not that long ago, infact I can remember a couple of threads on these quite recently, discussing how quiet, subsonic cartridges versus magnums? also one had some quite good pictures. CBW

I bought my ASE utra mod as I was using HV for fox (exactly the same reason as you) This was reccomended as one of the better mods for HV and sub use. Mr L. May know of better for the money but I am happy with mine (bugger to clean/strip though) CBW.

I have the Deben 'field and stream' trousers and jacket with hat, gloves and t shirt all in Hardwoods Green. I must say after getting over how everyone laughed at me, it makes a huge difference out in the field, I have had deer and foxes almost stand on me!!!!!! CBW I really like the quality, drawstring trousers, comfort etc I cannot recommend the enough!!!

I had a similar problem with emergency lights and radio arials! As well as working on Ambulances and rapid responce cars I also use my own car for ambulance service work. I have tried all sorts of magnetic, suction and both combined, they all scratch my roof and fall off. The answer I found was the cheapest e-bay roof rack I could buy and I drilled loads of holes into this!!!! CBW

Sorry if teaching you to suck eggs but Just check That it is the correct voltage bulb. I had exactly the same problem with a light of mine put an identical looking bulb in and it was not quite the same spec and everything was too bright!!! CBW

On my cheap scope I did find it very usefull however when using my good scope I dont need it. That said the batteries went flat 2 years ago and I have not bothered to replace them so I would say GIMICK. CBW

22 rimfire threaded and re-crowned
cbw replied to cyclonebri1's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
There is a local 'old boy' that was sugested to me, on talking to him at his workshop he said he would do it for a bottle of scotch. I think he would probably have done a good job but I had just paid £1100 for my rifle so sought some more advice!!!!! I paid £200 inc ASE utra mod and proofing, which at the time I thought was bloody expensive, but now hearing some of the horror stories I am glad I took the advice and used the gun smith I did. CBW -
One of my direct relatives was a barnardos 'child' I ask you to think again about stopping your worthwhile donation. Whilst I agree that this ad campaign is absolute rubbish and made me quite mad please look at the bigger picture. Your donation does and will make a difference to children who had nothing to do with this ad. The ad is probably the work of a couple of city dwelling, pen pushing Knobs who have never seen a sporting rifle. There are so many crap charities out there and this is not one of them, by all means send them emails of disgust but dont stop the donations to a

My Thoughts on the most appropriate way..... 1. Join rifle club and learn safe use of fire arm. 2. Buy Air rifle straight away and learn the basics of field craft. 3. From being a keen and regular member at the rifle club you will find land to shoot your air rifle on. 4. A few months in and with some land to shoot, friends and experience with an air gun, apply for shotgun certificate. 5. Give it a few more months and apply for a variation for .22lr and .17hmr. I have found the amount of land I have permission to shoot has snowballed and I am now having to turn down requ

The beauty of this DIY rifle modification is, if it all goes wrong a small tube of super glue and no one will know the difference! CBW

Mine go to Trulock and Harris in Framlingham Suffolk. Not cheap but I am really pleased. CBW

Mine is wound almost to max elevation......I am also zeroed at 100yrds and have very little left to play with. (infact, if you look at the pictures in the 'pinned rifles' section at the bottom of page 2 you can see the turret wound right out!!!) I wonder if it is just different rifles and different mounts? I have been told I should fit the recommended mounts as I am aparently "not getting the best from my scope" using it wound up close to max!!! CBW

.22 rimfire use, safety and limitations.
cbw replied to yorksjt's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I physicaly cringe when you fire and hear that twaaaang heading off at a bloody right angle, no backstop can help me with that. Even rabbits skulls cause the odd ricochet. As above I do wonder how far and with what velocity these travel. CBW -
Hi, Great bag! I always had a soft spot for the GTE!!! (also an Essex boy!) What is it your 'bag' and the astra are leaning on? CBW

FAC theoben eliminator. Please help
cbw replied to f.a.c.sam's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
This is exactly the way I started, I wanted a FAC springer, was advised by everyone against it, so then thought about, and nearly bought the theoben rapid at 30 fps. (actually had the credit card out and talking to the supplier...out of stock!!!) Then finally was talked out of that due to cost... gas bottles, pumps etc. Ended up with a.22rf which is super accurate almost silent cheaper to buy and cheaper to run. Wont look back!!!! Think seriously about it, you have plenty of land to shoot on! CBW
