Dont know where you live from your signature, but if you know some one who has a lot of experience with reloading, him standing over your shoulder is worth a thousand pages from a reloading book. Dont forgat to start approx 10% below the book's max powder and work up from there.

The biggest stag youve ever seen?
dicehorn replied to tommydeer's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
Woburn Abbey Stag?? Apart from the obvious antler growth, the lack of mane sets it apart from 'real' stags -
What Deker has written is correct - ask them to turn up your original application and if you are correct, they will have to take your FAC back for alteration at no expense to you.

Dont have a 243 - but do have two Blasers. From the couple of friends of mine that shoot this calibre I would say (as we are talking mainly deer) to go as heavy as possible that your rifle will accept. As someone has stated H414 is a good powder for the 243

this is what this rifle is still capable of doing with 4 shots Old Codger, respect. Effortless Why - thank you Effortless. I look upon myself as about 40 - as long as I dont look in the mirror

Checking back through my reloading records, I can put hand on heart and say that one of my 22.250 has fired 3847 rounds through this barrel Please bear in mind I am on old codger (60+) - got the start of a cataract in my shooting eye - this is what this rifle is still capable of doing with 4 shots http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq101/wyndog/scan0001.jpg The 'flyer ' I would like to think was the bullet but was no doubt me I would agree that it "will not last as long" nor will any other barrel if you dont take the time to look after the bore - something that I am quite anal

Hi Tell me, what powder are you using with the 120 nosler? I spent a long time using different powders to propel the 120 before I started using N160 as have two of my stalking chums in their 6.5 s Peter

I have two rifles in 22.250 and IMHO they will do everything that a 223 will do but a little better and would certainly be a good choice of small calibre for Scottish Roe.

I copy below my post to the same question last August:- Personally if you value your hearing long term - my advice is stay away from ALL moulded ear defenders - Its not your ear hole that needs protecting but the bit behind the ear. Only bins can protect your hearing properly Proof of what I am saying is this- How many top flight clay shooters wear moulded ear defenders??? You see, they are better informed than we are to the dangers of sudden loud bangs I rest my case

Where to keep your certificate
dicehorn replied to lorelei0922's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
What john says, however it is not a foregone conclusion that without the certificate the police will confiscate it. They have the right to take the gun from him if they believe that a crime has been or is about to be committed. So the best advice is for him to have the certificate with him. I personally carry a photocopy and state so on the copy that 'This is a copy of the original' I do this as I understand that the police's data base now has firearms/shotgun certificates linked into their system Peter -
My email to Aaron - lets hope the moron who sent a bullying email to this young lad is now not on this forum to read this. Hi Aaron You asked about the destruction foxes do. I have written a reply on that thread for your benefit Peter PS Sorry to hear you have had problems with a member on here. No matter what forum you go on there is a small minority of mindless assholes that want to bully others that do not share their opinions. PPS I dont agree with you either re foxes, but understand you are welcome to your opinion - we would all have nothing to say on this forum if we

Having tried a few cleaning mediums to add to the ultrasonic, have settled on citric acid which is much cheaper to use than vinegar.

Hello Aaron - Nobody seems to want to answer your question, seeming to prefer giving their own opinions on your opinions. The reason a fox will kill so many chicken/pheasants has nothing to do with 'Foxes just love killing' far from it. A fox is an oportunist - if he has the good fortune to get into a pen full of chicken, he is programmed to kill all he can, take one and, if possible keep returning until he has collected all the dead. He will bury the dead hens for consumption at a later date. I know, I have walked a wood after a fox visit and seen legs/heads and wings sticking out from a

We all have our favourite makes in .22 (mine is an annie) But really your choice is between semi or bolt (I am a bolt fan - at least you know it will cycle each time) Generally speaking all the modern .22 rimfires are pretty good if you can feed it with the ammo it likes. Try and buy new - .22 rimfires secondhand (unless you know the previous owner) can be a can of worms - they don't like being dropped out the window of a truck. If you do think about a .17HMR think about it after you have your .22. The little rimfire will teach you fieldcraft with your rabbits. A friend of mine had a H

a very good friend of mine has a 6.5 and yes you have made the right choise i have shot this rifle and it is very good round!! iv seen him shoot a red at 370 yards and pull it straight down!!! he has this rifle in a sako model not sure which one but i know its a very good rifle!!! hope you get the rifle you want mate happy hunting Another vote for the 6.5 x 55 had mine for 7 years and shoot 60+ reds a year - however not stupid enough to take shots out to 370 yards - have too much respect for the deer I shoot (generally to 200 yards) My rifle is a Blaser R93, my two fellow stalker

Have been using case tumblers for 15 years and consider them the way to clean brass cases. However recently bought an ultrasonic cleaner off the bay (CD 2400 with the 1.4 litre tank) Using the tumbler I was always aware that whilst the media polished up the outside beautifully, it did not touch the primer pocket or the inside of the case. As I usually reload my cases 15+ times, I started to consider the amount of burnt powder build up within the case. This new cleaner makes every part of the case look like new - I probably wont use it every time, but will do so after tumbling say 5 ti

Just learnt something new - never knew that wood pigeons would roost in a barn. Are you sure they are woodies or could they have been collared doves which commonly do roost in farm buildings. Your scope - assuming it is securely fitted to your rifle. At say 25 yds unscrew the top turret, you should see an arrow stating 'up' and 'down' (this is where I am now guessing, assuming that each click is 1/4 inch at 100 yars) If you are shooting 1 inch high turn the knarled ring 16 clicks DOWN, Now remove the cap to the turret on the side and click in the direction of the arrow to the left 104 (!)

When out after rabbits - always on foot as I tend to know what fields are likely to be productive. With regards foxing - it depends. I have found over the years that some foxes get to know that the noise of the truck coming towards them signals danger. Therefore, I can honestly say that just about all forays after fox that have produced several foxes in a night, have been on foot. If you are shooting on your own, then the truck is more convenient. I would add when ambushing foxes with the N/V then the truck if I can get to that area. So my vote is it depends. Peter

Quite understand your stance on JB Snap Shot as it is very abrasive, however the secret of its use for removal of the carbon ring is to use it VERY sparingly. I have used it over 10 years and still have the same barrels that work flawlessly. I believe the people that have had things go wrong using JB is because they have used it either too often or incorrectly. Peter

thats great grouping for a factory rifle, i'd count yourself very lucky...... nice to get a real shooter out of the box, Yes I am well pleased with it, however I believe that I have also found the perfect round for it and have the perfect (in my opinion!!) cleaning regime. Peter What do you use as a cleaner mate intrested to hear, and it's all down to bullet selection, do you just run the one brand and weight? Hi SS this is my cleaning regime followed by the ammunition that I make (sorry all long winded!!): Normal Cleaning: 1) Soak a patch with Shooter Choice
