    Out earlier this evening glassed two yearlng bucks and a doe out in one of the winter barley fields I stalked round the edge and out in to the field crawled over a nap to where I could get a safe shot ,just as I got settled another doe appeared out in front of me,she was playfully greeted by one of the yearling bucks so I decided to wait a few minutes to watch them,then there was a grunt from the woods and the two yearling bucks(still in velvet) and thier mother moved down the field and out stepped another buck again totally clean of velvet he looked like he was going to walk straight towards

    Cheers lads,I would normally have left the first one till a bit later in the season but the ground that he was on is being planted up with young trees so he had to go as he was inside the fence,we did try to move him out but he just run rings round us.He was a very nice beast and he is well on his way into my food chain.

    Hi mate ,you would have to be very careful ,because you would be leaving your firearm with someone who is not lawfuly allowed to possess it which could cause you both allot more problems than you bargained for,I was once stopped in my realtree gear coming out of a service station by a cop who asked were I had been and what I had been doing,having nothing to hide I told him I had been stalking deer on a farm nearby he asked me where the rifle was and I told him it was locked in the boot he smiled then went over to my car where he checked that my mate could not access the boot whilst I was in

    Tiddler, it could be worse, you could live in Wales where there are very few deer Oh, you do live in Wales Sorry ft You will soon be able to come up here and shoot deer because it seems the only ones that will require the stalking certificate are the residents of scotland

    I can see this problem escalating in scotland once recreational stalkers pack in due to manditory testing,also I think that there will be a sharp rise in road acidents and fatalities where deer are the contributing factor

    Maybe one of the shooting organisations like basc or something should petition the scottish parliment and post a link to add our names as it is not made very easy to raise such a petition or they may even arrange a march on hollyrood to bring this into the public domain after all it will enevitably be the public purse that picks up the tab to control the deer that we will no longer be allowed to shoot. I only shoot what I can fit in my own freezer but I do wonder if all these DCS registered stalkers are paying tax on thier earnings from deer that they are selling to the game dealers perhaps a

    Hi guys,I have just tried to set up a petition against manditory testing of scottish deer stalkers and am waiting to see if the powers that be at no.10 accept it as a valid petition .     you seem to be missing the point mate 'if it were made manditory' surely if the older keepers with the old style stalking certs and years of experience stalking in this country are having to sit these dsc certs to keep thier jobs then anyone coming into this country to shoot deer should have to have them and simply being acompanied by someone with a dsc 2 would not be acceptable, i for one would not be very happy if i had to pay these totally extravagant fees for a certifacate for the privalage of doing what i have done free for 9 years, to watch other people from other countries swan in witho

Can i just add in to the post...I'm hopefully going to collect my 22-250 tomorrow (if the postie arrives with my variation) and this has been a wonderfully informative posting!!!     YOU,VE PUT THIS IN THE LURCHER SECTION MATE ALTHOUGH SOME LURCHERS WILL BUSH AND HUNT IN TIGHT COVER ITS MAINLY TERRIERS AND SPANIELS THAT BUSH MATE, BASICLEY IT IS THE TERRIERS HUNTING THROUGH THE TIGHT COVER LIKE BRAMBLES AND FLUSH HIDDING RABBITS OUT FOR THE LURCHERS TO CATCH HOPE THIS HELPS I thought it was what you do down the back of pub if you get fixed wi a hairy bird......lol
