  1. Cheers jamie g ,im going to start with a load that i used to use with my old remington 34grains of h4895 and 55gr nosler ballistic tip heads with cci large rifle primers and work the load from there ive also got some varget and 55gr sierra gameking to play with aswell, but i was just interested what others were using. hilux when you say you use cci magnum primers would they be much the same as the cci long rifle primers ?. ive always used the same primers and never thought that changing them would make much difference,is this the case ?. Deker i have tried the privi stuff in 55gr 22-250
  2. Just wondering what factory ammunition works well in your sako 85 22-250rem ,also what homeloads work well
  3. Well done mate,i was out the other night lamping for foxes and never seen any however i came across eight roe in one of my fields so i will have to be cutting down the numbers i think,my problem is getting to the ground in daylight as i work all day so friday afternoon is looking good.....

  6. Hi i have two shotguns one is a betinsolli diamond 2001 multichoke o/u mint condition and the other is a berreta a303 semi auto also multichoke very good condition and i was thinking about trading them in for a beretta extrema 2,anyone on here know how much i should expect for my tradeins and what i should expect to pay for the new extrema 2,i have researched the extrema 2 but i would welcome any comments for or against it from anyone who has or has had one cheers.
  7. Hi mate,i bought mine from the shop advertised on this site (North East Fieldsports) great to deal with got it cheap £125 about 8 months ago i think ,its still too early to say wheather they are worth the cash as no one seems to know how long they will last before they reach the end of thier serviceable life ,on the other hand once you have tried one you will be impressed by how light they are and how long they will power your lamp i use mine with my liteforce variable and it lasts the nite without any problems still as bright at the end as at the start ,if you do manage to drain it though the
  8. you are probably correct mate thats why we have to fight this all the way,to get the best deal and to try to get the price capped if it has to become law with a universal working mans fee subsidised by government if necessary as it is the government who will be imposing this new law...After all they have plenty spare cash when it comes to mps expenses.......
  9. Today i sent another link to this topic to the scottish parliment for them to view the poll and i made no apologies for some of the comments that have been posted as i think it shows a true picture of what people think about being forced to pay an extravagant amount of money for the right to carry out thier hobby/job whatever the case may be, i have no quams about sitting my dcs1 if it becomes law but i am dead against being ripped off to do so bearing in mind that it might not be dcs1 that is required and holders of dcs1 may have to sit another test and pay a registration fee to get on the ap
  10. I started with a brand new Remington 700 with a zeiss 8x56 scope ,but im not sure exactly what they would cost now though then i bought a Tikka T3,now im in the process of upgrading to a Sako Hunter, still got the same scope.
  11. Ive thought about buying a stainless synthetic sako 85 but not sure if the dam thing would be any better as they are from the same factory
  12. Hi Deker,I phoned finland today and spoke to someone there they said that they will contact GMK and the independant gunsmith then they will arrange for the gun to be returned to finland for inspection by thier gunsmith and possible repair but i think I will be applying for a variation and i will buy a new rifle and get an rfd to take delivery of the repaired tikka and sell it on my behalf that is if tikka repair it
  13. well at first they tried to offer me £100 and when i laughed and said my solicitor will be in touch, they started offering to get me a car of the same value I dont think it would be unresonable to find out what the car was worth on the forecourt in top condition when it was taken off you ,and start negotiations there but I would be looking for compensation for inconvinience and loss of use too.
  14. I think its GMK that is the problem in this case too,Probably I should have returned the rifle sooner but I thought it was something minor or just me that could not settle in to the tikka and I was in constant contact with the dealer over the time that I had the rifle regarding the problems that I was expieriencing with the tikka. I had a remington 700 varmint synthetic before the tikka and had no problems apart from the weight of the thing and it was a tack driver I do wish now that I never changed it but tikkas have such a good reputation. But believe me when I say that GMK will no
  15. I thought about trading it but some other poor sod would end up with it,which isnt fair on them.
  16. Im going to phone finland on monday morning, hope to something sorted.
  17. Q1, Not sure but anyone is free to leave a comment for or against it all adds to the full picture poll is a guide and comments have been encoraged throughout Q2, What I mean is people like myself who do not sell the venison off the deer they shoot but use it for thier self and family Q3, Every one could learn something but do they feel that learning something on a course would make them a better stalker remember we live in a computer culture where information is freely available to people who want to find something out
  18. Ive had my tikka t3 for 16 months never been able to get consistent accuracy i tried everything suggested by the place I bought the rifle but with no success,I did not think for a minute that it was the rifle that boasts 'OUT OF THE BOX ACCURACY' that could be at fault butI was at my wits end so I took the tikka to a reputible gunsmith to be checked over, after everything was checked out he inspected the barrel of the rifle with a bore scope and found what he described as sulpher or carbon inclusions in the steel and he also commented on the fact how clean the rifle was ie no copper ,lead or ca
  19. I GOT THE X3M1 BI POD STICKS THEY WORK FOR ME THINK I GOT THEM OFF EBAY QUITE CHEAP
  20. digger, if they were domestic geese then they will have been within their rights to do so im affraid. As the term 'livestock' covers all farm animals, including poultry, and even caged or penned gamebirds. as i said before it does not mention ''livestock'' on my firearms cert it states ''the shooting of animals to protect other animals or humans'' think this would cover any animal that was under threat be it a rabbit ,hare ,fox ,deer ,cow ,chicken ,goose or a horse i think it would be one for the courts to decide....
  21. just err on the side of caution guys it states on my firearms certificate that the firearm can be used for ''the shooting of animals for the protection of other animals or humans'' this is the exact wording it does not say livestock and i think all the keeper would have to say is that he approached you to tell you to keep your dog under control and put it on a lead as per the countryside access code and your dog went for him so he shot it ........your word against his and you better believe that he would have a witness if he was approaching any one with his rifle
