Rt Hon David Miliband MP Secretary of State. Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), Nobel House 17 Smith Square London SW1P 3JR 16 July 2009 Dear Secretary of State, My friend, who is in farming at the moment, recently received a cheque for £3,000 from the Rural Payments Agency for not rearing pigs.. I would now like to join the "not rearing pigs" business. In your opinion, what is the best kind of farm not to rear pigs on, and which is the best breed of pigs not to rear? I want to be sure I approach this endeavour in keeping with all

When I spoke to the guy a while back he said that things were still in thier infancy and that he was not sure exactly what the outcome would be but he did say that if there was another exam people with the dcs1 would probably not require retraining as they will already have the knowlege to just sit the exam but they would incur a further exam fee and registration fee. When I asked about capping the fee to keep it within the reach of the working man he said that there was a possibility that there would be a unified fee but could not confirm what this would be. Hopefully they will just

I tend to agree with a lot of what you say, however, you devalue your argument by dismissing the test, without knowing anything about it. Unless of course you have nothing else to learn? Like you I've been shooting for more than a couple of decades, but wont blow my own trumpet on experience. Putting the financial aspect and the greed that goes with this test to one side, there could be a positive side to the test, insofar as we are all learning, and if anything, this 'formal competency' may actually weed out the unsavoury elements in the sport. Hi guys,I just read on another forum that if the dcs qualification becomes manditory it will be exactly that.everyone without exception including foreign stalkers and stalkers from england who have bought stalking rights in scotland will be required to sit the dcs1 exam and pass it.I think that the foreign stalkers will look elsewhere and they will take thier cash with them this will cause a knock on effect to the local businesses that benifited from the visiting stalkers not to mention the thousands of pounds of lost revenue that the estates will loose . Oh and talking about revenue I als

In or Out whats best
Night Hunter replied to matt241075's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Hi mate I kept mine outside this year as I found the central heating caused them to loose thier winter coat early last year leaving them like shivering wrecks when out, This year thier coat is thicker and they do not seem phased by the cold, they do have a weather proof run with a windproof box to sleep in and both are always kenneled together so maybe this helps ,good food and fresh water is the key and the water is checked for freezing regularly throuout the day. -
Well done Ian ,I was lost without THL
