    Testing the water ( so to speak ) . seriously thinking of selling 2 of my centre fire rifles. 1. HOWA SHORT ACTION .223, walnut stock ( I think ) blued action, very good condition and comes with opti mounts and T4 mod. I have a cheapy scope I can put on to get you started. .also lee reloading dies and about 150 fired brass.. looking for around £425 2. RUGER 77 .22K HORNET. Wood stock, 18" barrel, integrated ruger mounts, threaded for mod. 1 : 14 twist so will can use 50Gn bullets, 1 x rotary mag and set of reloading dies and approx. 100 twice fired cases,-- £300.     Had my last tub of Lil-gun from sportsman gun centre ( Newport ) think they have a few outlets about the place-- google them----or even Lil -gun powder distributers. LD

    Yes, I also use the 50 grainers in my .223, they go like S*** and are accurate enough for fox 200yds + , I don't load them too hot 25Gn of vit 133 I think doing about the same as your 243 , 3400ft/sec had no runners yet LD

    As you say it is a little subjective because each rifle is different, but in my ruger I am in agreement with C.C the 45 gn soft point Sierra bullets are very good, I use CCI small rifle primers, and load the case with 12.7 / 12.8 gn of Lil-Gun, good accuracy and stopping power. The most accurate load in my rifle believe it or not are the 50Grain sierra varminter blitz bullets ( not blitzkings ), I load them with 12.6 grain of Lil gun and they are spot on, Sub 1" group @ 100 yds no prob (and that's with my old eyes), but my rifle is 1:14 barrel twist so can stabalise the 50grainer .     Seems a bit pointless to compare a .17 wsm against a .22 standard hornet round, if we are looking at new introduction products then should be compared to the .17 Hornet, this may be more usefull to guys going down the 17 cal road. LD
